My Frugal Week
I’m sorry this is much later than usual, but I had two appointments today and then spent the afternoon cleaning Dad’s office and workshop and am just now getting a break.
So, this will be a short Frugal Friday post.
On Tuesday I went to the Samaritan Center for the saving money class and earned another $10 voucher for the thrift store.
On Tuesday evening we went to see Wonka at the $5 bargain movie night and got a free popcorn.
I got my hair cut this week at Great Clips and they are now charging $20 for a haircut just like Walmart. 😔
I did pick up four free books at the Samaritan Center and everyone in the class received a free package of carrot seeds. I also picked up a free bottle of water.
My pneumatic compression device aka leg pumps were finally approved by my insurance company and arrived on Monday. I’ve used them every night since the and can already tell a difference.

How was the Wonka movie? I've enjoyed the past Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory with Gene Wilder and the Charlie and the Chocolate factory movie with Johnny Depp, but I wasn't sure about this one. Let us know what you think of it.

It really was an exhausting day, Kathy. I slept really good last night as a result. I'm so glad I finally got the leg pumps too, it's already making a difference and I love that.
DeleteThe Wonka movie was OK, not the best we've seen, but just OK. The past movie was much better. I wouldn't want to see it at the theater again, but would wait for it to come out on another venue.

Stayed in most of the week, which was a good thing as I managed to get the pantry cleaned and inventoried. Tomorrow I will do the canning closet and will better know what might be needed to be canned next year.

Oh, I just love getting our pantry cleaned and inventoried. Kudos to you, Jackie. I was in ours today sorting similar canned goods together. That is great planning on your part to inventory your canning closet in order to know what to can next year. :)
Deleteif you can find a coupon for Great Clips it helps but it seems they are rare. Have a great week...so glad the leg pumps are working!

DeleteThe therapist I was going to see told me she did not believe in those pumps and would never get them from her. I am to the point that I might have to come to your place.
ReplyDeleteUgh! How frustrating, Linda. I waited so long for mine, it was frustrating at times. They definitely work though and I hope you can find someone who will prescribe them and work with your insurance company, if necessary, to make sure you get them.
Delete(Little Penpen) I’m glad you got your leg compression pump. Is it for lymphedema? I sometimes think I’d love to try one . Hair care has become quite expensive. I don’t know how people pay some of those prices. (My daughter is a hairdresser)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Penny. Yes, the leg pumps are for Lymphedema. I actually have it worse in my trunk, but the insurance company will only start with the leg pumps, so at least this first hurdle is completed, finally. Now to work on getting one for my trunk.
DeleteOMG! Yes, on the haircare prices. They wanted $90 to color Bailey's hair, so we did it at home and saved the money. I will probably cut my own hair the next time I need a haircut because that is a lot to me.
Are Leg pumps the same as Tens machines people mention? I hope you continue to see help. My legs are thick- even when I was thin, my legs were thick, particularly calves. I wonder if that adds to my knee issues. You got good freebies at the Samaritan Center. I prefer my own filtered water, nut to grab and go it's nice to have a few bottles on hand.
ReplyDeleteNo, tens units are smaller than leg pumps. That issue could definitely add to your knee issues. It's odd how it's all connected. The physical therapist could tell from the worn pattern on my shoe how it impacted my knee and hip. It is nice to have some bottled water on hand just in case. :)
DeleteI hope you can finish with your dad's things before too long. Cleaning our my parents home was hard and took a long time, but they had been in the same house over 50 years.
