Weekly Grocery Shop ~ May 26, 2018
Our plans this summer are to combine errands more than ever due to rising gas prices, so this week, even though we were tired from yard sales, we did our grocery shopping on the same day.
We made two stops for groceries, one at Walmart and the other one at Cookes Hometown Grocer.
Walmart
Milk $2.99
Sugar $3.84 (10 lb bag - all the small bags were gone)
Tyson Chicken $2.24 (yellow sticker)
Pie Crust $2.24
Swiss Almond Cheese 65¢ (yellow sticker)
Tortillas $2.64
Sour Cream $4.74 (large container)
Yogurt $2.18
Sweet Relish $1.96
Paprika 98¢
Hamburger & Hotdog Buns 88¢
Cooke's
Chicken Breast $1.49 lb (2 pkgs)
Baking Potatoes 69¢ lb
Success Rice $1.99 box
With school/work over for both of us for the summer, our plans are to stay home, unless there is an emergency, until next week when we go out for yard sales.
We ran multiple errands such as dropping off packages at the post office, picking up our prescriptions, depositing checks at the bank, etc.
We have plenty of food here, so we are going to stay home and work on reselling and crafting new items for my Etsy shop.
It may sound boring to some, but I relish the chance to stay home and enjoy myself. Some of my fondest days are ones that I've puttered around my home and worked and felt content.

It sounds blissful to me. In my opinion - there IS no place like home. ENJOY
ReplyDeleteExactly, Cheryl. Thank you. :)
DeleteHaving rushed for 30 years to work and back home, to commitments many afternoons, I relish this stage in my life, at home, leading a much calmer life, enjoying my quiet days being a homebody. I get it.
ReplyDeleteKindred spirits, Carol. :)
DeleteNot using your vehicle as much this summer will save substantially, Belinda. :::smart::: DH is family driver, who has worked wonders for more than a year with car gas costs. With points and phoning to take a survey after purchases, until our last credit card bill of $25 (gas price increase), the monthly car-gas billing was $19.xx for 3 months+. Our car averages 28 mpg for our city driving and 38 mpg for hdriving.ighway
ReplyDeleteWow, that is great Anna!!! I would love to have a gas bill that low this summer. :) :) :)
DeleteYes I know exactly what you mean about staying at home and feeling content with things. It is a great feeling that some don't understand. :)
