Make a better world through learning and doing good things rather than being angry at bad guys. ~ Paul Wheaton @ Permies.com
After some reading on the subject this week, it can be inaccurate to compare the median cost of goods to median income directly, as it can be
overly simplistic and misleading, which I don’t want. Mostly I found clothes for myself, but I did find this Dining on a Dime cookbook in the hard back edition for $1.00. It's large print, which is great for me since I have low vision issues.
Bailey sold the cart in our efforts to clean up Dad’s areas and to make some yard sale money.
Here is a picture of the refinished cart.
I think it’s beautiful and my Dad would have loved it. 🥰
Pictured above is a quart size mason jar full of pennies from Goodwill priced at $29.99. I did the math and 1,200 pennies will fit in a quart size mason jar, which equals $12.00. That means they are charging $17.99 for this mason jar. Sheesh!
Erin and her husband from My Frugal Home, who used to live in Tennessee, recently made a trip to the United States from their home in France.
Love the quote - being angry serves no one!!
ReplyDeleteGood deal on that cookbook - those aren't cheap brand new.
The cart is fantastic. How cool is that? I think that was sweet she sent a picture.
Hope you feel better each day!
Exactly, Cheryl, being angry serves no one. I thought she did a great job on the cart and was so glad she sent us a picture. Thank you, I’m feeling better each day. 😊
DeleteYour dad’s little cart is just adorable!!! And too funny on the jar of pennies. I hope you are feeling better and better!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Penny. I thought she did a great job with the cart. And I am feeling a little better each day. I finally rode my bicycle pedals today for the first time this week, which is good for me and my knees.
DeleteWhat a great new life on the cart. I hope you keep Gettysburg ng stronger this week.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sam!
DeleteHappy 4th of July! Love your positivity! I admit to feeling discouraged lately.
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better, and I hope you get some good news at your next appt. Hope you won't have any more trouble with those kidney stones. That must be so painful.
What a neat cart!
Have a great weekend. Are you going to cookout and see fireworks?
Kathy
Thank you, Kathy. Happy 4th of July to you too! I’m sorry you’ve been feeling discouraged lately. I know that happens from time to time and it isn’t always easy to get out of that frame of mind. I’ll keep you in my good thoughts.
DeleteWe were invited to fireworks and a cookout, so Bailey is going and I’m staying home. I made her an apple cobbler and deviled eggs to bring with her.
I hope you have a wonderful holiday and stay safe!
Hi Belinda,
ReplyDeleteThe Chattanooga Free Store is such a great idea to donate your clothes to! Good luck with your surgery on the 11th...you're in my prayers. I have Tawra's Dining on a Dime Cookbook also...her second cookbook is great too. I have to say, I'm so glad that we do not have to pump our own gas here in New Jersey...LOL! Your dad's cart looks beautiful in the makeover...that was so sweet of her to send Bailey a picture! The jar of pennies from Goodwill is shocking...people go there because they are struggling financially...I've heard many things about Goodwill that are disappointing to say the least. Have a great 4th of July! Janel in NJ
Thank you, Janel. 😊
DeleteI’ve heard a lot of negativity in regards to Goodwill too, unfortunately. I liked it before the pandemic when they had 50% off days once per month. I wish they would do that again.
I’ll have to keep any eye out for Tamra’s 2nd book. I never thought I would find anything like that here.
The Free Store is such a great resource for people here. I just love everything about the. They offer birth control, diapers, wipes, near an, you name it and it’s all free. It’s such a good thing for this community.
I hope you have a wonder And safe Fourth of July!
The cart is so cute! So happy it got a new lease on life.
ReplyDeleteI really hope you start feeling better, and recover all of your strength! It's so frustrating when you don't feel well. I'm sending you good thoughts!
I didn't know you were working (referring to your payday comment). If you don't mind sharing, what are you up to these days? I believe you used to teach? - Hawaii Planner
I’m self employed these days along with Bailey and we do various odd jobs to keep up financially. It works for now, perhaps when I get all these surgeries behind me, I’ll go back to full time employment, but for now this works.
DeleteI was really tickled with how the cart came out.
I love the redo of the cart! How cute and clever!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kim. I thought so too.
