Happy New Year from the Frugal Workshop

The best things in life are nearest:

Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes,
flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you.
Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life's plain, common work as it comes,
certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life.
~ Robert Lois Stevenson ~

I adore this poem by Robert Lois Stevenson because it reminds me of how simple things, like having something productive to do each day and food to eat, can make a person feel content. Working each day makes me feel productive and I like that feeling. I love puttering around in my kitchen cleaning, cooking, or washing dishes. I love subbing because I get to spend time helping students with their lessons or just listening to them and when I'm not there, I miss that. These things make me feel good and cost me nothing to enjoy these daily tasks.

My hope for you in 2014 is that you feel content in your life and you derive pleasure from simple things.  May God richly bless you in the new year. :)
