Welcome to Frugal Friday!
Do not let anyone diminish your worth by making you feel too small, too quiet, too big, or too loud. Have faith in your dreams and pursue them with a bold, powerful passion! With hard work, commitment, and resilience, anything can happen, so embrace the idea of starting over and become someone new at any stage of your life. ~ Kathryn B.
Another raccoon has been showing up on our porch at night, scavenging for food. He even dug up the potted herbs I keep out back. Looks like I’ll have to put those away for now, just like I did with the hummingbird feeders.
One way I've started to save more money here is by taking shorter showers. This has been made much easier with my new knees, but I have it down to under five minutes now. We also have a low flow shower head in our bathroom, which helps save money too.
It’s been a while since I visited Target, but I stopped in the last week just to look around, and I was genuinely surprised by how much more they’re carrying now. The shelves were packed with products that didn’t exist just a few years ago, especially in categories like supplements.
There were so many options, it was almost overwhelming. But instead of feeling impressed, I found myself skeptical. It’s clear that many of these products aren’t really about improving our health, they’re about turning a profit. Much like fast food chains, these companies often prioritize marketing, peer pressure and addiction over actual well-being.
It’s easy to fall into the trap of buying things we don’t truly need, thinking they’ll be the next big solution. But this kind of spending can quickly spiral into consumerism and even debt. A wise person takes the time to research, weigh the real benefits, and separate what’s genuinely helpful from what’s just clever packaging.
Ingle’s had these fancy eggs marked down from $6.18 to 99 cents! We bought six of them and will be eating many eggs in the next week.
Any time we’ve eaten at a place like Waffle House, where the cook prepares food right in front of everyone, I always find myself watching them. I really enjoy seeing the process, the rhythm, the skill, the little details.
I’ve noticed I enjoy watching other everyday tasks too, like someone getting a haircut or the garbage truck making its rounds. There’s something oddly satisfying about it. And apparently, I’m not the only one, as there are entire YouTube and TikTok channels dedicated to this kind of thing. If that sounds interesting to you, you might enjoy checking them out.
Love the quote and the meme.
ReplyDeleteWhat a deal on eggs - woohoo.
Thank you, Cheryl. I was tickled with the eggs.
DeleteMy younger daughter goes to Target now and again but it's been ages since I've shopped there for anything regularly and it used to be my go to. Partly because I just buy less and partly because none are conveniently located. They have seemed to be more expensive than many stores and the "fashion" is questionable and expensive for poor quality.
ReplyDeleteOh yes! The quality of Target clothes is just awful. It’s a shame too because so many people shop there.
DeleteGreat score on the eggs. My dad supplies us, so we are very blessed. I have always enjoyed going early for my hair appts because I enjoy watching the girls work. My daughter is a hairdresser now and she thinks that’s weird. Lol
ReplyDelete😂 My sister thinks I’m weird for watching the garbage man but her daughters love it too. 😂 We were there one day and heard him coming and all of us ran to the window to watch him and she thought we were nuts. 😆
DeleteLove the quote!
ReplyDeleteToday my dh and I were just saying that we don't care anymore what other people think, so I am looking forward to this new stage in life. :D
Great deal on the eggs. I haven't been in target for a long time. About the only store that I go to regularly is Aldi since they are cheaper and there are fewer choices. I shop Kroger for the weekly deals, but lately there haven't been many deals that I want.
Hope you have a great weekend. I think we will finally have some cooler weather.
Yes! I love not caring what other people think of me. 😆
DeleteCooler weather will be so welcome as the humidity makes this time of year unfavorable.
I was happy with the egg prices and will be using them in several meals in the coming weeks.
I love Kroger deals and wish they were closer, but we do go there about once a month.
Now that is one great deal on those eggs. Target just couldn't make it in Canada and all the stores closed down. I remember going into Target when we visited Minot years ago and while some things were less expensive than up here in Canada, there were many that after exchange cost way more.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Oh wow, I wouldn’t have wanted to shop at a target and can see why they didn’t make it there. They are definitely more expensive than Walmart here. I was tickled with the egg prices.
