Second Frugal Friday August 2023

Welcome to Frugal Friday!

My Frugal Week

Walgreens is offering a free 8x10 photograph this week using code Summer-Fun. I went through my photos and picked this one of my sister and me with Mom back from the early 1970s. That is me in front with my bangs cut at home, obviously. 😂 My sister has a birthday in October, so I will send it to her then.

I received a $10 settlement in the Sure deodorant class action lawsuit this week.

On Tuesday we went to Bargain Tuesday at the local theater and watched the new Barbie movie. We are members of their rewards program, so we also both got a free popcorn. The movie takes us on a journey of valuable life lessons, and sends a message of self acceptance needed in today’s world. I was delightfully surprised by the film.

Did you know that the final episode of M*A*S*H is on YouTube? I remember where  I was on February 28, 1983 when the final episode aired. I was with my dear friend Tina, and we were at her house and we watched it together.  That was over forty years ago, but it is till one of my favorite television shows.

Thank you for dropping by my frugal blog, you are always welcome here.

It was a quiet week around here, so this is a short blog post.

  2. Oh I love the picture! You are such a cutie! What a special gift for your sister.
Thanks for the Barbie movie review! I hope to see it with my daughter. I think that it is great that there are so many different Barbies, just like each woman is different. My brother is named Kenneth, so he is may get some teasing from me after I see the movie. :)
I enjoyed watching Mash too. Hard to believe that it has been 40 years.
Hope you have a great weekend.

    1. Thank you, Kathy. Yes on the different Barbies, the movie does a great job of showing that. Oh, you will have a couple of fun things for your brother after you’ve seen the film. It is very hard to believe it’s been 40 years since we watched that episode. That makes me feel old. 😂

I hope you have a great weekend too.

  4. What a great picture! I've been wanting to see the Barbie movie, but haven't made it to the theater. I'm guessing I'll watch it on a plane at some point, which seems to be where I watch 90% of the movies I see.

  6. I remember the last episode of Mash, I was so sad to see it end.

Loved that video, and it is so surprising the differences in prices here in my Canadian city and in that area of the U.S.

    God bless.

  7. What a beautiful picture and memory! I used to watch MASH back in the day, but can't remember any of it. I might have to rewatch it online. Hope you & Bailey have a wonderful weekend!

    1. Thank you, Janel. No, Tina and I lost touch over the years and she is one friend who isn’t on social media. I do keep up with several friends from childhood on social media though. It’s so great to keep up with the friends from our youth. I hope you also have a terrific weekend. 😊

  9. My daughter and grandkids went to see Barbie too although I think it went over the youngest head. That's ok. I love your picture and I know your sister will cherish it. Have a great weekend.

    1. Oh, I can definitely see the movie going over some children's heads. There was stuff I didn't even catch that Bailey did. Thank you regarding the picture. I think my sister will cherish it too.
