Today is Wednesday, the day that the grocery store weekly sale ads come out in this area.
Listed below are the grocery stores where I can shop and the items they have on sale this week that I would consider buying.

I can't find cabbage for under .48 a pound, for cabbage or as I refer to it pig food. Onions and cabbage should be free.
ReplyDeleteWe could grow them in our garden and get them for free. Onions are on sale this week too. I need to get some of those. I haven't see cabbage at 29 cents a pound in a long time. I'm definitely going to get some of that this week to go with the corned beef we picked up last week.
DeleteThose prices are great, especially cabbage at 29 cents/lb. I don't think I've ever seen something that low.

DeleteI had some sticker shock. I am always complaining about a grocery drought. Many of the things I purchase that are on your list are cheaper in my WalMart at retail. I always thought since we are next door neighbor states our prices would be comparable. That was an education and I am also livid that you have to look for sale prices on items that should be cheaper retail. That is just not fair. :(
ReplyDeleteCabbage I can get around about 25 cents a pound. I don't eat cabbage but I notice the prices. Canned tomatoes in my area go for 3/$1.00 retail. Twenty pound bag of potatoes is usually around $3.00. I love potatoes and I would faint if I had to play almost $5 a bag. Cottage cheese is about $1.00. Brick cheese is about $2.00. Tea bags $1.00 for 100. I got green grapes a couple of weeks ago for 79 cents a pound.
Wow, those are terrific prices, Safyne. I know many times when I look at prices people are paying, say in England, they are so much cheaper than what we pay. And the yellow mark down stickers there are much cheaper than ours. Of course we have to take into consideration the exchange rates of different currencies, but still. You have great prices!
DeleteLike I told Belinda be glad you don't live in Western PA. Never have seen the prices you pay but to eat you need to spend what the stores charge. Belinda's prices are cheap compared to ours.
DeleteIt all depends on where you live. Aldi's 99¢ onions in Tennessee are $1.27 in Connecticut this week according to Carol from CT on a Budget.
DeleteI am so glad you posted that. 49 cents a lb. is as low as I can find it too.(That is at Save a Lot.) I live near Memphis.

DeleteThe onions at Aldi's are the same in MA and NH $1.29, but the cabbage was $1.29 for a head not per pound.
ReplyDeleteI am always at amazed at potato prices in different parts of the country. We are fairly pricey here for potatoes.
It's so interesting to see the different prices across the country/world. I think potatoes are a little bit high here too.
