Sub in a Tub
A "Sub in a Tub" is a low-carb, bread-free version of a deli sandwich, featuring chopped sandwich meats, cheeses, and toppings served over a bed of lettuce in a container, often with vinaigrette dressing.
You can add anything you like on your sub to make this salad. These items are things I had on hand in order to make this for dinner tonight, but we can always add or take away from these ingredients.
We really liked this, I've been wanting to make it for a while now, and I had so many of the ingredients on hand that I decided it was time. It was a big hit and we will definitely be making this again in the future.
Ingredients for the Salad:
Proteins:
Ham
Chicken
Salami
Pepperoni
Cheese:
Shaved Parmesan
Parmesan Cheese
Provolone Cheese
Vegetables:
Romaine Lettuce
Tomatoes
Black Olives
Green Olives
Red Onions
Red Peppers
Banana Peppers
Pickles
Ingredients for the Dressing:
Extra Virgin Olive Oil ~ EVOO
Red Wine Vinegar
Mayonnaise
Oregano
Olive Garden Italian Dressing
Garlic or Garlic Powder
Italian Seasoning
Salt and Pepper
Directions:
Add the lettuce to a large serving bowl along with the remaining salad ingredients.
Whisk the vinegar, oil, oregano, salt, and black pepper together.
Pour over salad and toss until ingredients are well-coated.
Enjoy immediately.
Hi Belinda, wow, I had never heard of this before! Thanks for sharing it. I am not a big sandwich person, but I have a friend who is. I cannot eat salami, bologna, pepperoni and cold cut things like that because I find them difficult to digest. I can eat ham and turkey breast roast with no issues, though.
ReplyDeleteI will share your recipe with my friend!
Thank you so much for sharing, dear friend.
You're welcome, Linda. I first heard of it on TikTok and have wanted to try it for a while now and we really liked it, so we will do it again for sure. I hope your friend likes it too.
DeleteHi Belinda, LOL! We were both commenting on one another's blogs at the same time, how nice! In response to your comment on my blog I thus far have no apps....would you believe? But I love the sound of the one you mentioned! I believe, if I am not mistaken, I have seen a couple of videos on YouTube from Cornell University.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes watch the live videos...usually with birds, nature sounds, etc., and it is possible I saw one on their channel, or at least done by them.
Thank you so much for telling me about this. I am trying to get the courage to download and use apps. I suppose with all the scams and hackers out there this may be why I am a bit fearful.
Ha! Ha! We've done that before, Linda. LOL
DeleteOh, the Cornell app is so neat, if you can get it where you are and try it I'd like to know what you think of it. I have several friends here in the US who really like it. I totally understand your fears on scams. Maybe try going to the website and downloading it from there? Just a thought,
What a great idea, dear Belinda ❤️
DeleteThank you so much.
I have never heard about this and it sounds like a wonderful meal. Thanks for sharing this with all of us.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
You’re welcome, Jackie.
