Hamilton Beach Food Processor

Wouldn’t you know it, but on Christmas Eve as I was getting ready to make crumbs for a casserole dish, I realized that the top of the S blade for my food processor was broken, rendering the machine useless with that blade.

This food processor was a Christmas gift to me back in 1991. I often joke about it aging me as it has turned yellow in color over the years as appliances do sometimes

Unbroken S Blade

Well I looked up my model number and looked for a replacement and found one on eBay. The seller wanted $15.50 for it, but we negotiated a deal where I ended up paying $11.50 instead, which was cheaper for me than replacing the entire machine.

Hopefully this will give me many more years of use

The reason I was able to put my hands on the Owners Manual after thirty years is because I keep mine in a three ring binder. I have the binder labeled and I have those plastic page protectors in there. Each pocket holds an owners manual, the receipt if I have it, and the date it was purchased.

This system has saved me several times over the years.

  2. Good fix. I lost the mixer blade to my bread machine and a replacement blade was really expensive. I went to thrift store - found one and bought it for $10 for the blade. I re-donated the other machine with a note - missing blade.
I keep my owner manuals in an accordion file - all in one place.

    1. I love it! Such a great fix. When we’ve had a microwave go down, we sell the inside glass plate and roller underneath. They always sell! :)

  3. So glad you were able to find the blade! Hope you have many more years of use out of the food processor. Great job keeping the manuals organized too.
I think I have the same food processor that I brought from my parent's house; it is so handy!

    1. It’s a really good food processor for its time. I see new ones now for hundreds of dollars, but as long as I can keep mine going, I will.

  4. Very cool that you were able to find a replacement part & keep the food processor working! I need a better system for my manuals. We keep them, but they are shoved in a drawer somewhere!

  5. I kept my owner's manuals in a file in my file cabinet. Of course, it is gone now, but so are the appliances. I could put my hand on warranty and receipt. It was a good system.

    1. Yes, those are good systems to have in place.

  6. I had that same one years ago! I never used it so I donated it a long time ago. Then about three years ago I got a new one and use it all the time so I guess my kitchen goes in cycles. Right now I don't have a blender and have no desire to replace it. Hubby keeps all the manuals in a filing cabinet and can lay his hands on them anytime which I really appreciate.

    1. Oh, that is so nice of your hubby to keep the manuals for you. I use mine from time to time. Right now it is stained from carrots I processed in it a while back.

  8. I keep all of my owner manuals in a binder also. I have looked and found worn out/broken parts of things several times and it does help extend the life of things

  10. I have mine in a wooden magazine holder, but I think I just may look for an old binder and some page protectors and do the same as you. Right now I have to go through the whole magazine holder to find anything.

    God bless.

  11. My partner has all the owner manuals, too! It makes life much easier when you need to get a new part, or just to contact the manufacturer.

Some people go online to look for the manuals. He's pretty old-school, I guess.
