Free Rabies Vaccines

Big Kitty, napping

Mozzie & Big Kitty (napping again)

The Animal Care Center in Ooltewah was giving free rabies vaccines to animals on Wednesday, so we took Big Kitty & Mozzie to get their free shots. This was a savings of $12 each, so we saved $24 on our visit today.

We found out about the clinic during Spring Break from a flyer on the bulletin board at the Samaritan Center. It always pays to check out the local bulletin boards in your area.  And you can even Google, "free rabies vaccines" and may come up with a free clinic in your area.

  1. Hi Belinda,
that's so nice that you could do this and take care of your kitties for free! Those vaccines add up.

I know what you mean about checking out the bulletin boards in your area. I always check the local libraries board for local, free entertainment. I've found concerts, movies, informational presentations and plant swaps, all for free posted on the local board. I even found out about a knitting group that meets once per week, and took my own project there one week to get some advice.

    1. Thank you, Lili. Sounds like you've found some great things to do from your local boards. I like the plant swap idea. And how neat that you found the knitting one too. :)

  2. Hi, Frugal One:

Good care for your pretty kitties. Public bulletin boards remind me of talking over the fence. Good stuff. Signing up for public email notices is another way to talk over the fence, too. Checking my local library system's site notifies me of all sorts of free entertainment, teaching, tax assistance, book clubs, and on and on. Pass the word....

    1. Thank you. Yes, emails are a great way to find out about these things, thank you for mentioning that. My daughter posted about the children's reading hour on one of the local Facebook yard sale groups, and the next week they had a lot more people show up, so people do pay attention to these things. :)

    2. Clever girl you have. Does she read to children when she volunteers?

    3. Not usually, but she helps them find the books they are looking for and helps them on the computer as they need help and gives them coloring pages and restocks books. She loves it. She once had a little girl ask here where the princess books were and she was so tickled.

She had a big week this week at school. She was inducted into the National Honor Society, learned that she made a 23 for the first time taking her ACT, which made her an automatic member of Club 21, and she picked out her classes for next year, her last year of high school. We went last night and bought her prom dress for this year. She is on cloud nine this week. :)

    1. Yes, they were offering them to all animals. There were a lot of dogs there when I was there.

  4. Great advice ! We have very few bulletin boards in France but I'll be on the look out for them. From now on, I have decided that I will always get my dogs vaccinated in our Paris's vet school. I am really lucky because it's at walking distance from the flat here. Not as convenient as the vets regarding opening hours but the saving is worth the effort ! Your cats look lovely ! xx
