Music Monday ~ Catastrophic Flooding in Tennessee

If you've watched the news this weekend you would have seen the catastrophic flooding that took place in middle Tennessee this weekend. We are fine here where we live in SE Tennessee, but our hearts are broken for the people in and around Waverly, Tennessee and other surrounding areas. They've experienced devastating losses including the loss of lives and my heart goes out to them.

Oh we never know where life will take us

I know it's just a ride on the wheel.
And we never know when death will shake us
And we wonder how it will feel.

So goodbye my friend
I know I'll never see you again
But the time together through all the years
Will take away these tears

It's OK now...
Goodbye my friend

I see a lot of things that make me crazy
And I guess I held on to you
I could of run away and left
Well, maybe...
But it wasn't time we both knew

So goodbye my friend
I know I'll never see you again
But the love you gave me through all the years
Will take away these tears

It's now...
Goodbye my friend

Life's so fragile and love's so pure
We can't hold on but we try
We watch how quickly it disappears
And we never know why

But I'm OK now
Goodbye my friend.
I can go now
Goodbye my friend.

  1. The extreme weather has been such a challenge. We are having the opposite problem here, and it feels so unfair that some are suffering from rain & flooding, and others from fire & drought. Sending good thoughts to everyone impacted.

  2. I had you in my mind so grateful to read your post. Floods, forest fires, draught- do much stress and hurt. My thoughts are for those that lost their loved ones.

  3. I'm glad you all are doing ok!
    Beautiful but sad song.
It is so sad to hear of the lives lost. I read where Loretta Lynn's ranch foreman died while checking on the animals.

    1. Thank you, Kathy. We are grateful here and counting our blessings.

That was so sad about Loretta Lynn’s foreman. He had been with them for years. :(

  4. It is all so sad. Then there are the fires out west. We just never know from day to day and we really never understand how blessed we are till something/someone is gone.

  5. We are closer to Western NC and my late in laws lived in one of the flooded areas for many years. Our hearts have been broken watching the devastation and hearing of some who watched family members being washed away in mud or water. Then I see people online ranting like crazies about the vaccine and all I could think was that they knew where they were going to sleep that night and that they had food for tomorrow.

    1. Oh Lana, I had some of those same thoughts yesterday. I’m grateful for all that we have. I have no right to complain considering what others have going on right now. I struggle with the thought of having a child swept out of my arms. Life wouldn’t be the same. My heart goes out to them as that would be so much to try and bear.

  6. My heart broke for the man whose twins, boy and girl, were torn from his arms in the flood and were lost. He managed to hold onto the other two toddlers.

    1. That one broke my heart too. Swift water is so dangerous. I know they must be broken hearted. :(

  7. Belinda, thank you for checking in. I didn't think you were near it. I was still worried for you and your loved ones. My city had that same storm system. It moved through fast with hardly a peep and not even an hour later what it did to TN. It is shocking & heartbreaking.

    1. Thank you, Safyne. Yes, shocking and heartbreaking. The news has been reporting on heroes now, those who helped out. Some even lost their lives trying to help others in the flood waters. 😢
