My Frugal Week
This week we had the last of our cats spayed at the clinic that utilizes a grant to help cover the cost and then only charges $25 for each spay or neuter. Now all of our cats are fixed, and hopefully no new ones show up here.
I worked all five days last week and brought all food and drinks from home. Scratch that...we had snow last Wednesday and school was cancelled. Drat! Make that four days worked instead of five.
On Wednesday I worked on hand warmers in my Etsy shop. I also made brownies and deep cleaned the kitchen, and folded laundry.
Saturday we went to the annual Hallmark Christmas get together for work. We had the best time with friends and look forward to this fun event each year.
Sunday we put up our Christmas tree, decorated for Christmas and listened to Christmas music.
This week I redeemed several of my reward point programs towards Amazon gift certificates.
I redeemed $10 from Microsoft Rewards, $15 from MyPoints, and $4 from Checkpoints. I also earned a $15 Amazon credit for using Amazon photos.
This money went towards a gift I will be giving this year and I only ended up paying 21¢ for it in the end. Using reward programs are a great way to get presents inexpensively.
This week I received a free calendar from Betty Crocker.
This week I took the apples from our refrigerator and dehydrated them. The apples get eaten faster when I do this and make a great side with a sandwich for lunches.
Aldi had butter and eggs on sale this week, so we stocked up. Butter was $1.99 per pound while eggs were 49¢ per dozen.
Food Lion had Spam on sale last week priced at 2 for $3.00, but when you bought two you got one for free, so that made them $2.00 each.
We've been busy getting ready for Christmas as I'm sure many of you are too. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Sounds like a pretty good week. We had snow as well, but it is starting to warm a little and most of the snow will probably be gone by Christmas. Sometimes those unexpected days off is when you get the most done. The apples sound yummy.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend
Thank you, Cheryl. Those unexpected days are great for getting things done for sure. :)
DeleteGreat work! You had some nice frugal wins. We did the standard things (used grocery store rewards, ate leftovers, etc). Nothing super exciting on our side.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Even the basic frugal things help us save money, which is good.
DeleteSounds like a great week! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThank you Penny, Merry Christmas to you too!
DeleteI'm not a Spam user, but my mother-in-law has a pizza burge recipe using Spam. Of course, now it is off the menu for my husband, but tha tis a great deal. I know someone else that uses it in place of corned beef for has. I think that could be quite tasty. I still thank you for the Microsoft Reward recommendation. Not a fortune but $15 towards things I would buy anyway is a nice little boost to a weekly budget when I end up using them, probably to stock my daughter up with basics when she goes back to school in January.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Sam. I love those Microsoft Rewards as they do come in handy. I'm working on another $10 Amazon card right now.
DeleteI thought schools were already closed for the winter break.
ReplyDeleteYour week was very frugal.
I too had some apples in the fridge, and I made an apple tart. :)
Hope you have a relaxing weekend, Belinda.
It seems like we work until the very last minute with school. I'm happy to be off now though. Your apple tart sounds delicious. A friend gave me some Gala apples the other day, so I need to make something with those this week. :)
DeleteI love pics of Christmas decorations. I have seen so many this year that is so pretty. That pic of the apples and your Chrismtas decor is my favorite. You can just feel the festive ahd happiness. I love the snowman frig.
ReplyDeleteI know you are a Downton Abbey fan. I was over at Vudu tonight looking at the free movies. They game me a movie rental for 99 cents. Apparently we can use it on Downton Abbey. You have to be a new member and the coupon is only good for a week. Since the movie came out on DVD this week it is a really good deal. I am going to use my coupon on Christmas Eve. I think Downton Abbey on Christmas Eve is perfect.
Thank you, Safyne. I love the snowman fridge too. Oh my gosh, what a great deal on Downton Abbey! I'm so excited for you. I love that show. :) :) :)
ReplyDeleteI use to have a food dehydrator and never used it. Now, that I say your apple chips, I kinda regret getting rid of it.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy Christmas!
We love the dehydrator for apple chips. I make beef jerky in it as well although it has been a while since I've done that. Merry Christmas to you too!
DeleteYour week sounds really good. You always find such good deals!
ReplyDeleteReading through the comments, I saw another commenter mentioned Downton Abbey. I was at our library book sale a couple weeks ago and got the first season and the 4th season on DVD for .75 each - that made me happy. Now I will have my own little mission to see how long it takes me to fill in the other seasons.
The thrill of the hunt, right?
Merry Christmas to you and your daughter.
Debra
Thank you, Debra. Yes, it is the thrill of the hunt. What a great find on your Downton Abbey seasons for 75 cents each. That is a fantastic deal!!!
DeleteI hope you and yours had a wonderful Christmas. :)
