Frugal Friday
Welcome to Friday!
My Frugal Week
It has been a very busy week here. Our cat Polka Dot was bitten by another cat this week and had to go to the vet. He is home now and on antibiotics. He is still limping though, which I hope improves quickly.
My glasses came in on Thursday and one pair was made incorrectly so they sent those back. The other pair works for my right eye, but not the left eye. It does not correct my vision enough to drive, so I will need the surgery eventually.
Last week on Friday and Saturday we went to multiple yard sales, twenty-four in all. Amy Dacyczyn calls this power Yard-Saling. In order to find good deals it requires going to multiple yard sales because the items for sale are unpredictable.
Bailey was able to get inventory for her online stores and also several hard goods.
I was able to get a Tupperware bowl, Rubbermaid pitcher, pinking sheers, several dish towels, wash cloths, one bath towel, pot holders, and dish cloths.
We spent so much time yard sailing that the sales were beginning to close up towards the end of our day. Some people were giving stuff away for half off or even free. we got several things this way.
Bailey has been looking for pots and planters to put her plants in and the yard sales did not disappoint her.
It's so great to be able to yard sale again and find yard sale prices too.
We stopped at Ingle's one day to pick up their Welch's grape juice, which was on sale 2 for $5.00. The same sized bottle sells for $3.68 at Walmart, so it was a good price.
Saving Money In My Frugal Kitchen
I used up the last of my eggs and onions while making meatloaf this week, so I added them to the grocery list. We will be doing an order for groceries to be delivered on Monday this week.
Meals This Week
Sunday: I had a family pack of ground beef thawing in the refrigerator, so I made meatloaf, meatballs, and Salisbury steaks out of it. I made my own gravy using butter, corn starch, beef broth and a spoon of sour cream.
Monday: Meatballs, Mashed Potatoes, Mixed Vegetables.
Tuesday: Chicken Strips, Cole Slaw
Wednesday: Salmon Patties, Mashed Potatoes, Mixed Vegetables.
Thursday: Chicken Sandwiches, Cole Slaw, Carrots
Sorry this is a short post, but I wanted to give you all a quick update.
How was your week?

Thanks for the update!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about the glasses. Hope that they send the correct prescription, and I hope that you will be able to see better.
Sounds like you got some great deals at the yard sales. What fun days, but I bet it was exhausting too. I'm glad that you are able to enjoy going to yard sales again. Yay for normal life again. It has been a long year.
So good to read your post. :) Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Thank you so much, Kathy. Yes ,the yard ales re exhausting. I had to come home and take a nap, LOL. I hoe you have a great weekend too.
DeleteI would love to go yard saleing with you guys so fun. Isn't it nice to cook up several meals at once to save time and energy?
ReplyDeleteThat would be so much fun, Kim. And yes, I love cooking up food to save time and energy.
DeleteThanks for this post I screenshotted it and followed up with eBay to log a complaint about how you list your home is pet free. You clearly have pets in and around the home, in your vehicles, being handled by you, so I reported it. This is fraud to report to people that your items come from a pet free home. Do better please. Lying is never the right way to make more sales. Shameful.
ReplyDeleteSorry your glasses weren't correct. Didn't you say you had cataracts? I was diagnosed 2 years ago - right being worse - but still drive and do everything. I will have surgery at some point, I know. I just dread it.
ReplyDeleteYou did great at yard sales. Haven't been to a one yet. Really haven't seen any. They sure can save you some money.
Your meals sound yummy!
Have a great weekend.
Thank you, Cheryl. I have an appointment next week to find out about the surgery. Hopefully it will all be behind me soon.
DeleteSorry about the glasses and really sorry to hear you still can't see well enough to drive. I hope you'll be seeing the doc again soon.
ReplyDeleteI can officially get back out to hit the yard sales now too, I can't wait. Sounds like you got some good deals.
Nice menu for the week. Have a fantastic weekend Belinda! :)
Thank you, Martha. I hope you find some great deals at the yard sales soon. I also hope you have a fantastic Memorial Day weekend. :)
DeleteFingers crossed you get what you need at your appointment with the eye doctor. I can imagine how hard it is to have vision trouble.
ReplyDeleteThe yard saling sounds really fun! We don't have too many in my neighborhood, but I always love a spin through a free table, when a neighbor puts one out.
Thank you. I love that your neighbors do the free table thing. The neighborhood where I grew up does that too. It sounds like so much fun.
DeleteHi. Missed you last week!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Arlene. You are so sweet.
DeleteHello! I hope Polka Dot feels better soon. You, too! Take care. Judy in CA
ReplyDeleteThat is so kind of you, Judy. Thank you. :)
Delete24 yard sales!!!! I’m jealous! Sounds like a great day!! Hope your cat is better!
ReplyDeleteIt can be exhausting. I needed a nap afterwards. LOL
DeleteSorry about the glasses and the kitty. Hopefully both will be corrected or helped very soon.
ReplyDeleteI would never make it through that many yard sales.
God bless.
I like your cat’s name. Polka Dot. That’s a cute name. 😊
ReplyDeleteI’m sorry they didn’t do your glasses correctly. I hope you will be able to get the surgery soon.
There are not many yard sales in my neighborhood yet. I love going to yard sales.
Hope you and Bailey have a relaxing weekend, Belinda.
