Thursday: We were invited to my BIL's home for the 4th of July. I brought a watermelon with me that I had already cut up and cubed before we got there. On the menu was smoked ribs, smoked chicken, mac and cheese, baked beans, green beans with potatoes, pasta salad, cucumbers, and rolls along with sweet iced tea. It was delicious.
Friday: On Friday I pulled out a bag of chicken breasts out of the freezer and decided to grill them. I used the McCormick Grill Mates Roasted Garlic and Herb seasoning. I served this with brown rice & mixed vegetables.

Saturday: My daughter prefers hamburgers over tacos, so I asked her and she wanted hamburgers today, so that's what we did. We had hamburgers and homemade french fries. Of course I had all the fixings for the hamburgers too...cheese, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, bread & butter pickles, and of course ketchup for the fries. Hopefully we'll have tacos in next week's menu. :)

What was on the menu in your home this week?
I mostly ate baked chicken and cole slaw along with assorted vegetables and fruits with ice cream.
ReplyDeleteSounds delicious. We had coleslaw on our menu this week too. It's a refreshing side salad perfect for this time of year.
DeleteSounds like a great week. #5 would be my favorite meal. I made baked spaghetti for lunch today. About the meme.... my mom did a lot of things that way. I remember her putting a big pot of butterbeans on the table for several days in a row. We would groan, but that's what we were having! My son stayed with her for about a year when he went off to college. I remember him complaining that he had seen the same pot of chicken and pastry (dumplings) for several nights in a row. LOL
ReplyDelete#5 is one of my favorite meals too, Penny. That's funny that your Mom did that too. Your poor son. LOL Sometimes I will freeze something if we just can't take anymore of it for the moment. Your baked spaghetti sounds so good. I love that.
DeleteI have had spaghetti on my mind lately as well. Some things are just good for many days. Chili is another.
ReplyDeleteIt all sounds yummy.
Yes, chili also fits that bill, Cheryl. Thank you.
DeleteWe had: carnitas, burgers & hot dogs, pizza, & salmon. We hosted family for three days, so we had quite the quantity going, and went for meal options that were easy to prep & make.
ReplyDeleteTHat all sounds so good and easy to fix. I hope you enjoyed your time spent with family. :)
DeleteI love leftover spaghetti. In fact I like it better the second day. I just make a huge thing f sauce and then freeze the sauce in packages. Last year was the first year I canned sauce and it was or still is great.
ReplyDeleteI agree that spaghetti is better the second day, Kim. I canned sauce a long time ago, but now just freeze it. One day I would like to can it again though.
DeleteWhen we were first married, every Sunday we went to my in laws. MY MIL would pull out the biggest pot and make meatballs and sausage and other meats in sauce. It would cook all day. They had more food on Sundays then the rest of the week combined. She stopped doing it years ago. I do when my tomatoes are ready and I can it.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, Marybeth, I'd say that sauce was wonderful. It sounds so good. It's great that you can your sauce when the tomatoes come in, I want to do that again someday too.
DeleteI had mom’s delicious food and just so so airline food last week. 😊
ReplyDeleteThe first sounds very good, Nil. :)
DeleteReading the meme about spaghetti reminds me of staying with my my grandmother. She would make a pot roast , then you would eat it every meal until it was just about gone and it would turn into hash. My cousin, Sally and I were thrilled. Then she would make another pot roast!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, Anne, that sounds SO good! Grandmothers make the best food. :)
DeleteYour beefy baked beans sound really good! I, too, am making all the salads as sides. They are so refreshing when it's hot.
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree so much, the salads are so refreshing right now. That and ice cold watermelon. LOL
DeleteWe do not eat seasonally, unless it is DH's watermelon and cantaloupe. What a delight to live in the USA.
