January End of the Month

Saturday breakfast was sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits, strawberry or grape jelly, hot chocolate, and orange juice.

$142.56 was the total amount I spent on food in the grocery stores in January.

Of course, we had a lot of food left at the beginning of the month from the holidays and we have a well stocked pantry, so those things helped me to keep a lower grocery bill this month.

I mostly shop the sales as you can see from my shopping trips. I buy enough to last us a while and that helps to keep my grocery bill lower.

  2. Always cheering for your saving ways. Fell certain that was a bargain breakfast.

15 or 16 years ago when I had a tiny kitchen garden, at 6 in the morning, I would harvest enough okra, crook neck squash, and cherry tomatoes to combine with an egg for an omelette breakfast.

At the time, I calculated that breakfast for one cost 10-cents. I do not recall if there was bread and/or beverage included; however, I was on a path to being debt-free and am confident that 10-cents per serving is accurate.

    1. Wow, that is an amazing breakfast, Anna. Both the cost and the ingredients from your garden. Once a person gets it in their mind to be debt free it's like nothing can stand in their way. It really helps to be in the "zone". :)
