It has been a couple of months since I've done a Child Support update. The Child Support office was finally able to help me get several payments in full from my ex-husband, and I was even able to get some extra money to go toward the arrearage on this account.
However, my ex-husband was furious over the whole situation and ended up quitting one of his jobs where child support was withheld, which not only resulted in my not receiving any child support this month, but also messed up our daughter's health insurance and made it very difficult for me to get her the asthma medicine she needed.
As I mentioned before, I was able to get some extra money from the arrearage on the account, so the extra money combined with my income from substitute teaching meant that I was able to buy a few things that we needed.
I was even able to pay cash for everything for Christmas and incurred no debt, which is a very good feeling to me. We may not have very much money right now because of the lack of child support, but the bills are all paid and there is plenty of food here to eat right now, and the gas tank is full.
To me, that is a pretty good position to be in for now.

Sounds like a good news/bad news post. You do sound like you are OK, even with ex's messing around with the CS and health insurance. Stay strong!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Carol. :)
ReplyDeleteUgh. I do not understand why noncustodial parents prioritize their spite over the well-being of their children. I dated a man who had a daughter, and if he EVER started to complain about paying child support, I'd have been out the door.
ReplyDeleteYour daughter is very lucky to have you. I hope things get straightened out soon.
Thank you, Pam. :)
ReplyDeleteHi ! Belinda, new to your Blog, I can relate to an exhusband problem. One suggestion, if I may, Find out about getting his income tax return for back child support and here in Ct, we have husky health insurance for familys for low income households, check your state may be a differant name. If he worked 2 jobs his tax return might be sizeable, and the government grabs that for back payments, and you probaly don't need a lawyer for that. Best Wishes, Roxy
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Roxy. We did get his tax return one year, but not since then. He told me about 2 months ago they were going to take it again, but I don't know if that will happen or not. Thank you for the heads up and the visit. :)
