"Your number one wealth building tool is your income. Millionaires don't give away their money to Sallie Mae, Best Buy, Ford, Visa or Walmart. When you give your income to someone else you don't have it anymore. When you give your income away you have given up your economic future all for a flat-screen tv."
- Dave Ramsey
My sewing machine was bought for $25 at a yard sale during the summer of 2017. This machine has been a workhorse since then and I've used it to save us money and stretch our income since that time. It was in need of a tune up though and I look forward to getting back in about a week or so.
Another great frugal week and yay for the Publix scores! Potatoes are a fantastic meal stretcher, that was a great way to use them. Have a great weekend Belinda!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Martha. Potatoes are a good way to stretch those meals out. :)
DeleteSounds like a really great week for you! My eBay sales are finally picking up again, so that's been a nice surprise. We're also nearing the end of our prepped freezer meals, which is both great from a freezer clean out perspective, but means I need to get busy making more. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you. That's terrific that your Bay sales are picking up. That's good that you've cleaned up your freezer. I love it when things get used up like that. :)
DeleteKnowing how to sew is such a useful skill! I have saved so much $$ over the years especially when the kids were little, between mending their clothing and sewing new clothes for them.
ReplyDeleteI hope your machine checks out ok.
Than you, Sluggy. Sewing is skill that will serve someone their whole life. I know it has saved us a lot of money over the years and it sounds like it has done the same for you as well.
DeleteSounds like a great week Belinda! What a steal for that sewing machine. I don't even want to mention how much I paid for mine & I got it at 50% off. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ms. Goose. I love that sewing machine. It is a workhorse unlike some of the more inexpensive machines.
DeleteI just read 9 things the rich do and lol at #6, because that's exactly how I am. I'm always turning something into more money, so I can afford the higher end items I want. Thank you for sharing the link.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. That is how Bailey handles any money she gets like that. She does what she can to make it even more money. People like you and her are so smart with your money.
DeleteGreat week, I will have to read those articles. Every new idea helps with living frugally and yet well.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thank you, Jackie. Yes, reading frugal information regularly helps me also to keep at it.
DeleteLove the taco idea! My favorite thing to get from taco bell was the spicy potato soft taco. Too bad they took potatoes off the menu.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nichole. Taco Bell is bringing back the potato taco permanently in a few weeks. Bailey was so disappointed when they took them off the menu. She loves them.
DeleteBesides saving money by making clothing, curtains, costumes, etc., I saved money by mendiing towels and clothing, altering clothing, too. Plus, sewing for others and supporting myself sewing for a few years made money for me. And, I sold machines, too. I would find a sewing machine, make sure it sewed, adjust, oil, and clean it, and then sell it.
ReplyDeleteOne day, I bought a machine with cabinet for $10. I took the machine out and sold it as is. then, I sold the cabinet. I suppose I made around $70 that time, forgot now.
That is amazing on selling the sewing machines. I love that idea. We will e yard sale sailing again soon, so I will have to keep that in mind.
DeleteLooks so delicious, I just want to come eat at your house! I buy the big containers too and transfer. So much easier! Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Vickie. You are welcome anytime!
DeleteI feel my lack of sewing skills has probably hurt us financially. I've passe don good things that need repair. On th eother hand. I feel like I can stretch a penny in the kitchen area. Some of the big bottles of things are so heavy, but savings is good per ounce.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the big bottles saving us money though they are heavy. And you do a great job in the kitchen saving money, Sam.
DeleteWhen I make taco meat or other flavored ground meat filling I sometimes add a few instant mashed potato flakes. It adds to the amount of filling I get without adding a different taste.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great idea, and a money saver too. :)
DeleteHi Belinda :) The eggroll dish sounds fabulous! You know, I think I have a (paranoid but accurate lol) conspiracy theory that companies make jars and bottles so that we can't quite get all of the product out of them so that we have to buy more of it. I always cut my toothpaste tubes and guess what? I get at least a week's worth of toothpaste out of them where I would have otherwise tossed the tube and bought more!!
ReplyDeleteI think the companies do that too, Rain. I cut my tubes as well to get the last little bit out. I also cut my tarter sauce containers open to get the last little bit out of there. It saves money to get the last little bit out rather than throwing it away.
DeleteThank you for telling us about Rolling Acres. We received our drainboard and it is wonderful. Brenda
ReplyDeleteYou're so welcome, Brenda. Isn't it terrific? I just love mine. I'm so glad you like yours too. Thank you for letting me know.
