This week I'll be taking my Dad for cataract surgery on his other eye. We are also ordering groceries this week. What plans do you have for the upcoming week?
Thank you for using my Amazon affiliate link when placing your Amazon orders. I earn a small percentage that doesn't increase what you pay and it helps me to earn a living here at Frugal Workshop.
Oh I used to love the Game of Life when I was little. I'll have to see if I still have it since I don't remember seeing it for a long time. I think we should have a game night too
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are having fun despite the virus, and you have inspired me. Thank you.
I hope your daughters business picks up. Hope your Dad gets along ok with his surgery, and that he will soon be seeing much better
Sending hugs
Thank you so much, Kathy. Game nights can be so much fun. I hope you do have one and enjoy it as well. I also hope you have a terrific week!
DeleteSo sorry about your daughters sales. I even noticed that stuff is not selling on marketplace like it did before.
DeleteThanks for telling us about peacock tv ..We will try it!
Thank you, Vickie. You're welcome for the Peacock TV tip. I hope you like it.
DeleteWith the dorms not loaning out games and cooking equipment or other recreation, we are going thorugh our games and putting a box together for DD2 tohave a few to take back. I figure they will have a lot of board game nights, which is good fun with friends. If I could find dry chic pea, I wan tot make ummus totally form scratch. Istill have th epinto and navy benas I bought back in MArch-none used yet, but will be happy to have them as sides if need be. I'm tryig to develop a asset mind frame.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea to send her back to school with games. Her and her friends will enjoy those for sure. Have you tried Walmart for dried chick peas? They usually have them.
DeleteYou are doing great on saving and not spending. I have not tried either of those food deliveries. Not being nosey - but are they expensive?
ReplyDeleteSame here using what I have. Cleaned out the refrigerator freezer this morning and frig. Dinner is a couple things I forgot about in both!
Have good week.
Thank you, Cheryl. The food delivery we use is $8.00, which is so worth it to us, and we tip them on top of that because we appreciate them so much! We've done that "gather the fragments" type of dinner this week too. LOL
DeleteDesks are a hot resale item right now, so it's awesome your daughter was able to turn it around, free up some space & make some money.
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed your dad's surgery goes well!
Thank you, my Dad's surgery went very well and he is already back home.
DeleteSince I cannot stand chickpeas, I cook dried Great Northern Beans and use those. No one can tell the difference. I would love some strawberry lemonade right now.
ReplyDeleteMe too! I love Strawberry Lemonade. :)
DeleteThank you Belinda for all of your frugal, money saving tips! I have a question: Have you ever used dried onion flakes? I've had some in my cupboard that I use on occasion; they're good in soups...Do you have any pros/cons on dried onions? THANKS!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Barb. Thank you. :) Yes, I do use dried onion flakes from time to time. I use it in my Tuna Pate recipe that is on here too. I also use a lot of onion powder as I like the flavor. I even put it in canned chicken or tuna to amp up the flavor. I know several frugal people who make their own dried onions flakes and powder and the same with garlic when they find a good deal and dehydrate it. It's rare for an onion to go bad here as I cook with them almost every day. I hated to throw the red ones out this week.
DeleteDid you get peacock tv through Apple? We are currently looking to download it but it can’t be downloaded through Roku.
ReplyDeleteI did download Peacock TV in the app store on my i-Pad, Tammy. Its an NBC channel, but offers so much more in movies and TV shows. I'e been watching Dateline on it. It's so much better than the episodes on YouTube as sometimes they are altered. I hope this helps. :)
DeleteI hope your dad’s surgery goes well, Belinda.
ReplyDeleteI didn’t know about Peacock TV. I watch movies and documentaries on Kanopy and Hoopla which are free through our library system.
Hope you and Bailey have a wonderful week.
Thank you, Nil. His surgery did go well. He said his vision was so much brighter. That's great that you get those for free from your library. I love that. The library has so many great resources like that. I hope you have a wonderful week too. :)
DeleteI know it is fun to play games. Son2 and DIL2 are game players and I love playing with them.I have noticed a lot of things on Marketplace here are not moving at all. I think everyone is tightening their belt anticipating the other shoe to drop.
ReplyDeleteIs the school system where you sub going to be online or are they beginning traditional classes?
The schools here started traditional classes, but started out at only % of the student body. Next week they will go to 50% and then the next week they will all go, but they have the option of doing it all at home and/or online. It was nice that they had multiple options open to them.
DeleteBelinda, I thought of you today. I really did. My DH got tested for Covid. We did everything right. Everyone is shocked that it's us because of how super paranoid we have been. We have a nurse in our family and he said he will be shocked if the test comes back positive. He doesn't think it's Covid. Cross fingers for us. I am not symptomatic at all. Why I thought of you. There was a SUV in front of us that had a large family. They had to test the children. Belinda, I have never heard children scream like that when they did the swabs. I am not joking. I will have nightmares for the rest of my life about those screams. I was literally sobbing in our truck listening to those children. The brave nurses had to give the children the swab test three times before they got a good one. They even had to open the SUV doors and get the kids out to take the test. It was so heartbreaking. I keep thinking of all the children who will have to go through this painful test. All I could think of was school starting and you and all my friends who are educator's. I don't want you to go through this. I know you probably need the money. I don't want you to be exposed to that kind of danger and grief. My DH is a big construction guy that is super tough. He took the test like a champ. When he drove away he was crying in pain. It hurt so bad.
ReplyDeleteA lean week next week for frugality. That's ok. Just as long as DH is safe and healthy. I stay safe and healthy. We did everything right. He still got sick. Nobody can figure out where he got it from if it's Covid. Even the doctor said that it's probably not Covid but 20% of people in our area are testing positive so that's why they gave him the test. He doesn't have a cough or shortness of breath. He has a fever, headache & nausea. I am doing essential shopping but I am very safe- mask, washing hands as soon as I get out of the store, then using sanitizer after washing my hands. All carts wiped down with alcohol before I shop. Things I touch wiped down. Debit card only. Mask that is changed at every store I go into. Wiping down everything that comes into our home, home sanitized every day. Shopping at stores with strict guidelines. DH is essential but he is usually by himself at job sites. If he talks to anyone he is masked. If he is given papers he wipes them down with alcohol and washes his hands. We both wash our hands for years like we are surgeons. It is something our friends teased us about for years :) I am worried about you with schools starting again. I don't want you to get sick. I don't want you to have to see kids getting a swab test. It is heartbreaking. What was even more sad I peeked at the car behind us it was an elderly lady all by herself. She had to be in her eighties and had to drive to take the test with nobody with her.
(((((Safyne))))) My heart goes out to you just reading your comment. It makes me so sad for all of you and those poor children. Your dh is a champ. It is such a frightening illness and affects some people one way and someone else another. I'm not subbing right now. I told them that I was going to wait until this passes or gets better. We will just have to make do and do our best. I hope your dh's test comes back negative. Please keep us updated. We will be praying for both of you.
ReplyDeleteThe test does NOT hurt. That said, it was a horrible tickle that made me emote so that my friend asked me if it hurt or tickled! It did not hurt at all, just made me sneeze.
DeleteThank you Belinda. He tested negative. It is such a relief. He is still sick but was told he was ok to go back to work so he ran off happily to work today. I am not happy about it. Doctor's think he's sick because of dehydration and heat. The construction industry is booming here and he's been working long hours. Covid apparently can mimic a lot of the dehydration symptoms, including the high fever.
DeleteI am so happy you are not going back to classes. This is such a relief.
What I learned about the tests if it doesn't hurt then it's not accurate. The further they insert the swab the more virus particles they can collect on the swab. Even though the test is extremely painful you want to find a testing site that will make it painful so you can have an accurate test. There are really good articles online from major health resources about the test. When my DH received his test the nurse explained to both of us why it would be so painful and why they made it painful so they could get accurate and quicker results. She even told him if it doesn't hurt to let her know because she will need to redo the swab. It was really one of those moments you truly never forget.
Oh, I am so happy your dh tested negative!! That is the best news!! I was thinking the same thing about the nasal swab. Sometimes when they do a strep throat test on me I know it will come back negative because they didn't swab me correctly. I can see why it would need to be painful to work. I'm so happy for both of you. I hope he can get some relief from this horrible heat now.
