My Frugal Week
Although Monday was a holiday this past week, I was scheduled to work every day, but then inclement weather came and school was cancelled for two days. Ugh. This next week I have three days scheduled, so we will see what happens.
Good news for us, we won a free steak dinner from Fresh & Low this week. There was enough there to split it between the both of us and it was delicious.
This week I also won a contest from Kroger and won $25 worth of free groceries. They applied the balance to my Kroger card and although we've not been there yet, I'll post about it when we do go.
This week I worked on saving money on our prescription drugs. I don't order them all from the same place as some places offer better savings.
It is hard to beat the 90 day prescription drugs for $7.50 from Publix, so we have some there. Another RX I get from Food City, but learned that Walmart will beat their price and save me $15, so I will make the switch this week.
Food Lion has Oscar Meyer beef hot dogs on sale for $1.99 this week when you buy five. So, I stopped in there on Friday and bought five.
Food City has Hunt's pasta sauce on sale for 69¢ each when you buy ten. So, I stopped in there on Friday and bought ten.
We stopped in at the bread outlet and stocked up on bread and hot dog buns for the upcoming week.
Payday came this week and my check was actually correct and included those missed days from last month. So, all the bills were paid this week. My car registration is also due at the end of March, so I went ahead and paid it too.
How was your week?

Darn old weather! Hope you get your scheduled days in. Glad you got your back pay.
ReplyDeleteFREE steak is a win everyday!
$25 in free groceries - woohoo. You are on a roll!
Thank you, Cheryl. I was pretty excited about the wins this week. :)
DeleteWow, you had a great week! I would have stocked up on not dogs and spaghetti sauce also. What prices!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Anne. :)
DeleteFree dinner, $25 from Kroger, and $60 annual saving for one prescription is a tidy "saving" for your week.
ReplyDeleteHow many ounces tomato sauce is your can? I no longer like Aldi tomato sauce and plan to switch. Taste buds are not as they used to be.
Great that your pay is up-to-date.

Thank you, Anna. The spaghetti sauce is 24 ounces. Sometimes our tastes change and it's time to try something else. I hope you find one you like.
DeleteCongrats on the two wins - that is awesome! We were traveling, but did our best to reduce costs where possible.
ReplyDeleteReducing costs where ever possible is terrific.
DeleteI very nice post! Have a nice week, Arlene
ReplyDeleteThank you, Arlene. You too!
DeleteCongratulations on winning a steak dinner and the Kroger contest. 😊
ReplyDeleteI’m glad you got an accurate paycheck this time.
Here’s to another frugal week!
Thank you, Nil. Yes, on to another frugal week.
DeleteCongratulations on the two wins. Anytime a person can get free food, that is a win.
ReplyDeleteThank you, and I agree on the free food. It really helps the budget.
DeleteYou had some great deals this week and some great wins too! Do you get paid snow days? We used to as school bus drivers. Have a gcrest week
ReplyDeleteThank you, Vickie. No, I do not get paid on the snow days. My daughter thinks I should. That's great that they still paid the bus drivers. I love that.
DeleteI was surprised to hear some school districts had last week off for 'winter break.' Our final school break is mid-March here and then Good Friday. When I was a girl, we always got off Easter Monday too but there was no spring break. Have you ever considered becoming a teacher- with your experience and recommendations it probably wouldn't take you long to get certification? Decent pay and paid holidays and you already know how to deal with the kids. Kudos on a free dinner. I want a shamrock shake but might make my own- of course, then I'd have leftovers and I surely don't need those. My youngest and I had a tradition of getting a shamrock shake every year but she lives across the country now.
ReplyDeleteIf I had my choice, I would get rid of all the little breaks during the year and then they wouldn't have to go back until after Labor Day like it was back when I was growing up. It's very hot here in August and our gym has no air conditioner, so that would help a lot here.
DeleteThat is so sweet about the shamrock shake.
I've thought abut certification, but the Praxis test are $80 each and there are four of them and I feel too old to start that. I have really thought about it though. :)
Thank you!
ReplyDeleteYou had a great week!
ReplyDeleteMe, well staying in the city with our youngest and getting his apartment trip free (he broke his hip at 37 years of age), bringing him and his cat home with me, and getting him ready to take back to see his orthopedic surgeon on Thursday is making it rather rushed around here as well as spendy.
God bless.
Thank you, Jackie. I hope the best for your son. I would love to have his cat at home. I hope you do too.
DeleteA free steak dinner and free money for groceries, sounds like a great week to me.
ReplyDeleteThaak you, Marybeth.
DeleteWell aren't you the lucky one this week? The weather has been a real problem in some areas.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, Kim. I am so over the rain here. Today is sunny, so that makes me happy.
DeleteYummy steak dinner. Blessings
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rue.
DeleteYeah for correct paychecks finally!
ReplyDeleteYou may have been lucky this last week but did you find any pennies? lolz
I did not find any pennies, Sluggy. I need to get on that. LOL
DeleteYou have had a super week. Free steak and enough to feed both of you is wonderful. Love your Frugal posts Belinda :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Effieq, that means a lot to me. :)
