There were four days of school this week and I was able to work three of those days. We're off today for Good Friday.
Next week I'm scheduled to work four days so far and I'm grateful as they are doing state testing and I don't normally work those days.
Recently I bought a bottle of vegetable oil from Food City, but the bottle was leaking oil all over my pantry floor. For now I've put what didn't leak out into a glass jar to use.
So I called the manufacturer to let them know what happened and they sent me three $2.00 off any of their products coupons. I'll be replacing the oil the next time I go to the store.
We were able to get in on several free items this week.
One of the items we received was a sample of Olay Luxe Lather Body wash. This item is foamy like shaving cream, which I thought I would like, but realized I prefer non foaming soap.
We got in on a free drink from Speedway, which was an offer where you had to text Speedway and they sent you a link to the coupon.
We both received a 22 ounce drink for free. We used it while we were out at yard sales on Saturday, and it was nice to have an ice cold refreshing drink.
On Monday Kona Ice had a freebie, which we were going to pick up but didn't due to the time.
We did pick up our free Hardee's biscuit on Monday though. They were delicious.
I also received several orange juices this week from students who were going to throw them away. I think I got a total of five this week.
We also received a free sample of Wild Zora freeze dried soup. I like the fact that this is freeze dried because it weighs so little, which makes it easy to carry in my sub bag.
We stopped at the bread outlet one day and picked up two loaves of bread and one package of hot dog buns and one of hamburger buns. Total spent was $4.80.
We also stopped at Food City and picked up two blocks of cheese, which were on sale for buy one get one free, which made them $2.00 each.
We stopped in at Kroger on Thursday and picked up eggs for 69¢, milk for $1.39, bread for 38¢, cheese, and two marked down pizzas.
We also went to JoAnn Fabrics where I was looking for something and had a 60% off coupon. But I realized I could get what I needed online in a bigger supply, so we left without buying anything.
I received a survey in the mail from Consumer Opinion Institute and received $5 in cash for this. This is the $5 I used to buy the Breville Wok last weekend at the church rummage sale.
Payday came early this week due to the Easter holiday, so I'll be paying bills and working on my budget today.
I'm also doing laundry and processing. And I have chicken thawing for dinner. I'll be making a chicken stir fry in my new wok, and serving it with buttered rice.
Right now it looks like yard sales will be rained out this week, unfortunately.
How was your week? Any frugal finds?
Belinda

I am interested in how the soup tasted.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a good frugal week with some nice freebies.
Thanks, Anne. I'll update when I've tried the soup to let you know how it was.
DeleteOh dang! I forgot about the Hardee's biscuits.....
ReplyDeleteGood deal on the $5 too!
I posted my Frugal Friday a bit ago.
Thanks, sorry you missed the free Hardee's biscuit, Sluggy.
DeleteWOW what a good week. Oh my what a mess with the oil - it does pay to complain sometimes!
ReplyDeleteSo sad the kids would throw away un-opened juice. Glad you saved it. I just shake my head at waste.
Have a lovely weekend and Easter.
Thank you, Cheryl. Now when I'm in a room with them they will ask me if I want the oj, so that's good. Yes, the oil was a mess and unexpected. I hope you have a great weekend and Easter too.
DeleteYou are sure getting a lot of sub days my friend. What are you going to do with all that moola?
ReplyDeletePay bills and save what's left. Or maybe yard sale. LOL
DeleteOur hot water heater broke due to the overflow valve malfunctioning. We have a home warranty from when we purchased the home, so that took care of a new water heater aside from a $100 copay. It took a week for the warranty to process everything though, so we were without hot water. My in-laws were in town though, so we were able to shower at their hotel and they took us out to eat in the evenings.
ReplyDeleteI have 12 peas and 10 bean plants put in. 3 tomatoes, a bell pepper, and a bunch of lettuce coming up also. I found out that two of the bushes in my backyard are actually blueberry bushes also. Ended up being a pretty decent week.
Sounds like a real good week despite the water heater breaking down, Nichole. That worked out great with your in-laws being in town and being able to use their hotel shower. And how neat that they took you out to eat in the evening. That's great, and I'm glad the home warranty covered it despite the $100 deductible. I hope you have a wonderful Easter weekend. I'm glad your water heater is back to working order. I would love the blueberry bushes as they are so expensive in the store. Make sure you beat the birds to them. :)
DeleteYou've had some great prices on eggs this spring. Is this typical for your area this time of year? The best price I've found in my area is 95 cents/dozen.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Easter, Belinda.
Eggs are usually marked down for Easter, but only two of the stores had them marked down this year. They've cost more lately than they normally do, so it was nice to find them for this price the other day. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Easter too, Lili.
DeleteMy "deal" of the week was the large size box(es) of (some, not all) Kellogg's cereals for $1.49 @ Kroger. Limit 5 boxes. I was able to get 10 by using an employee's Kroger card for 5 of the boxes. ;) I am only keeping 1 box. 2 will be paid for / taken by one of my sisters and the remaining 7 boxes will be gifted to/distributed to my 3 nephews.
ReplyDeleteOh, that is so sweet of you, Kelly. I'm sure they will enjoy them. I saw that in the Kroger sale ad too, and it's a great price for the Kellogg's cereals. Kroger has some of the best grocery prices around.
DeleteYou had yourself a good week with freebies, deals, and subbing.
ReplyDeleteI asked daughter, who subs in nice burb outside of Houston, what the district pays. $90 Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and $100 on Monday and Friday. Nevertheless, the district pays less than others also near her. Every day in May is already set to sub. She prefers first grade.
Thank you, Anna. Interesting about the district where you daughter subs paying more on Monday and Friday. I love that! I need to mention that to our superintendent here. LOL
DeleteI love that the kids give you the OJ instead of throwing it away. I hope you enjoy the biscuits. Milk is never reduced here. I am very jealous that they discount it by you.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Marybeth. Milk is rarely reduced here n Tennessee, but if we drive over the stateline into Georgia we can usually always find it. I love finding it since it always helps our grocery budget. I hope you have a great weekend and lovely Easter.
DeleteI am so happy you are getting a lot of work, especially so close to the end of the school year.
ReplyDeleteI was at JoAnn's website yesterday. I was looking at rubber stamping items. I had sticker shock. JoAnn's & Michael's are both inflating their prices and then running these great 60% coupons to entice. When you walk out of the store with your 60% off treasure. Your treasure that you bought was actually retail price. I keep a price book of craft and art items like I do for groceries. I buy a lot of art items. I know my prices. I hope that helps anyone who might read this comment. I would hate for them to get looped up into this JoAnn's/Michael's price gouge game they are playing. Hobby Lobby has raised prices too but they still have some really good deals. Plus, my Hobby Lobby is dog friendly and they love my baby so much they give her a bag of dog treats, lol.
My week was full of frugal treasures. Biggest one DH & I are getting a truck! I know that doesn't seem frugal. Oh my gosh it is going to be frugal for us. Plus, it's an expensive truck. We got it for only $1,000. It's a Ford F150. My DH's boss sold it to him. We kept borrowing it. I told my DH we should ask if we could buy it. I was teasing at the time. My DH asked and they were thrilled. They really wanted my DH to have it. He's really loved at the company. It is a small company and like family. We are so grateful and feel so blessed. My DH offered more for it. We did offer the blue book price. They got really mad that my DH priced it so high. Isn't that sweet?
Freebies- My dog got her treats from Hobby Lobby, lol. A friend gave me a bottle of Sprite. Heat off most of the week. Windows & doors open. Lots of beautiful library treasures- books, & DVD's for entertainment this week. $25 for groceries this week. That is so amazing. I have to eat a lot of special foods.
Thank you, Safyne. Yes, Bailey & I feel like JoAnns does that with those 60% off coupons too. It can be a racket if you don't know your prices like you do. I love Hobby Lobby as you can get some really good deals there on clearance.
DeleteOh, that is so sweet of your dh's boss to sell him the truck for $1,000. That is such a great deal for you both. You can haul all kinds of frugal treasures from yard sales, etc., How neat! I'm thrilled for you. :) :) :)
You did good this week with your frugal endeavors and your freebies, way to go. Enjoy your special foods and I hope you have a wonderful Easter. :)
Safyne, you have a truck deal, for sure. Happy for all who do well.
