We picked up 3 pound bags on onion for $1.25 per bag.
Bacon bits for BLT dip, Taco Bell sauce, Kroger brand Velveeta, corn & flour tortillas, popcorn, and two rice mixes to try.
Very nice hamburger buns for 99¢.
Gelatin for 39¢ each, and pistachio pudding for 49¢, all store brands.
Sandwich rounds for 79¢.
Two creamy chicken Ramen noodles for 25¢ each. These make good lunches in a pinch when combined with mixed vegetables.
Picked up fresh brown sugar and powdered sugar for Christmas baking along with some chocolate chips for chocolate chip pie.
We found three pork tenderloins for $2.99 each. These had originally been around $8.00.
Two pork chops for $1.93.
Shelf stable milk for $1.00 per carton.
Italian Sausage and chicken breast all on markdown.
Corn for 50¢ per can, beets for 69¢, and Club crackers for $1.50 per box.
Milk on markdown for $1.19.
Borden cheese for $1.00 each. It was on sale for $2.00 and we had $1.00 off coupons, so we stocked up on this great deal.
This was the week for cheese deals. Ingle's had their 32 ounce bags for $4.98.
This was another good deal. These cake mixes were marked down to 64¢ while the frosting was marked down to 74¢. We had 50¢ off coupons to match these marked down items. We ended up paying a little more than $1.00 for all six of these items.
I rarely see any marked down food items. There must be different supply management where I shop. Great deals on meat and cakes.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sam. I noticed recently that one of the stores we shop at didn't have markdowns anymore, so I asked about it. The manager told me that they send their markdowns somewhere else now and don't offer them to customers anymore. I don't know if that is the case where you live or not. I like them because it saves me money, so I tend to shop the stores that still offer them. I sure wish you had some in your area.
DeleteWow, what a great shopping excursion! I love Kroger markdowns - they are a big part of my life!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou got some wonderful deals and some good eating.
Have a good day!
THank you so much, Cheryl. I love Kroger too. I hope you have a great day as well.
DeleteGood deals Belinda!
ReplyDeleteHubs and I went to the town where the Grocery Surplus outlet is yesterday....there goes my low spend Dec. lolz
I won't get back there until Spring when the weather improves so I did pick some stuff up. Spending a little now will keep me from spending more later. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. ;-)
Thank you, Sluggy. I know what you mean about not having a low spend month. LOL
DeleteAnd, I KWYM about spending a little now in order to avoid spending more later. Its a great TW concept and so true.
Bargains are your game and low cost provides fame. :)
ReplyDeleteStill enjoying Bailey's Hulu? I've never had its service but may receive the same channels through DirecTV. (???)
Much rain in West Tennessee but no earthquakes or snow.
Prescription insurance notified me that a 90-day script for which it paid $1300 and I $300+ will no longer cover. Pharmacist asked to have my physician approve a similar medication. With Sam's Plus Membership ($100), the somewhat different script costs $10 monthly instead of $20 and meets my need. Never had I known of the medication I am now taking, although I had asked my doctor. Medications cause a never-ending inquiring game.
Inquiring about cost of necessary items is a never-ending part of life, giving cause to join with others to learn a new "trick" to spend less.

DeleteThank you, Anna. We are still enjoying Hulu. I watched a movie on Friday night and then one last night too. Movies I would not have ordinarly watched and found both of them interesting.
I'm glad you've had no snow or earthquakes. The rain has been steady here all week. The sun came out yesterday afternoon and was very welcomed.
I'm glad you were able to replace the now expensive meds with one much, much more affordable. Sam's Club is the best to help with that. I agree completely that it is a never ending part of life constantly inquiring about the cost of necessary items. We go thru it with mine and also Bailey's meds regularly. I hope you have a great day. :)
I wish we had a Kroger and Aldi here but that will never happen in my life time. But I love all the mark downs you find. I am really good at that also, especially with meat.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kim. I hope you get an Aldi someday as they are really great with low prices.
DeleteThe Aldi's I go to does have some markdowns from time to time. I have gotten the pork tenderloin marked down (but there was only one) and I managed to get shaved steak ($1 off). But I have never seen any of the other items you were lucky enough to get ever marked down.
ReplyDeleteGreat shopping. I love to find a bargain.
Thank you, Mary Lou. These markdowns came from Kroger and not Aldi. Sorry I wrote that in a way that made you think it was Aldi. I don't shop at Aldi enough to know about their markdowns. They would probably be very low, which would be great. LOL
DeleteGreat deals, Belinda. You are now all ready for Christmas. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nil. Yes, we are all ready now, and I'm so glad. :)
DeleteWowza Belinda! What a great week of bargains! I also stocked up on butter and cream cheese at Aldi. In the clearance isle I found Yellow Rice for .75 and bought three boxes. They had lemon jello for .25 a box. I wasn't sure what I would do with lemon jello, but my 17 year old daughter suggested they might could be used for cake or cookie flavorings. So I bought 4. Smart girl!
ReplyDeleteThank you MamaHen! What a great deal on the yellow rice and I would have bought the lemon jello too because I love lemon. You did way better than me on your jello prices. Your daughter is definitely a smart girl!!
DeleteWow- some rocking deals there! I've been stockpiling that egg nog- it's $3.79 at Winn dixie here and $3.99 at Publix. We serve it for Christmas Eve and Day and it also can be frozen. I need to buy more butter- I have lots of cream cheese and when I freeze it, I don't care for the texture but I love having 'spare' butter. My baking is done for the holidays- it's chicken and salad here for a few days of detox LOL and any cheese left over (I love it but it raises my cholesterol) will be given away!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nan. I did not know eggnog could be frozen, that is great information. Thank you. I love having spare butter too. I think the cream cheese has a long expiration date (and I hope yours does too), and I'm sure we'll use it before it goes off as we love it. LOL We will need to detox here too after our Christmas indulgences. I hope you have a great weekend.
Deletegreat score on the tenderloin! we had a meatball sale going on at the local grocery store. Stocked up on that. And you made me realize I forgot to pick up crescent rolls! Will need to go back before the sale ends. I love using them for breakfast.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jane. I love meatballs in the meat section, I always look at them for markdowns, but that is a rare find on those. My daughter likes the chocolate crescent rolls at Panera, so I am going to try and duplicate them here for her. I hope you have a great weekend!
DeleteThe Aldi i gogo had tubs of sour cream on offer for .25¢ each a few weeks ago. I stocked up! We recently moved from Iowa to South Carolina and it's taking some learning to know what the bargains are here. No more cheap ground beef :(
ReplyDeleteAww...that's too bad, but what a great deal on the sour cream! I would have stocked up on that too.
DeleteGreat tips regrading Cornstarch packaging. You provided the best information which helps us a lot. Thanks for sharing the wonderful information.
