My Frugal Week ~ September 9, 2018
This week I was able to sub three days and even sold some items on Ebay while I was working.
Also this week I was able to cash in another $5 Amazon gift card from Microsoft Rewards. I also cashed in points from MyPoints for a $25 Paypal credit.
We stocked up on Dawn dishwashing detergent combining a sale and coupons.
Our local apple orchard usually has the Honeycrisp apples around the end of August, so we went this week and picked up one peck of those and also picked up the last basket of the summer peaches at the peach stand, which are now gone until next year.
Target had eggs on sale yesterday. We bought 18 count boxes for 49¢. They also had the 12 count boxes for 29¢.

I've been busy with the the start of school, but be on the look out for a yard sale Saturday post hopefully coming this week.

DeleteWow, those are amazing prices on eggs! We had a 39 cent sale at one store (limit two), and a 66 cents/dozen a while back, but nothing as low as yours! My husband mentioned apple picking today, so I'm sure we'll be out doing that soon. I need to check my stash of apple pie jam from last year, so I can plan my canning duties around what we pick. I might try to can some apple pie filling this year. :)

DeleteWhat do you do with so many eggs? I heard if scrambled they freeze well but I've never tried.
ReplyDeleteWe will be making egg salad for sure to have sandwiches throughout the week. These are good until October, so they will last a long time.

ReplyDeleteTHank you, Sarah. The Dawn deal was a buy 5 get $5 off promotion and we had coupons on it too. Combining a sale with a coupon is the best way to save the most money.

I will share that egg price with my partner, just to make him cry. Where we live (Alaska) the eggs are so expensive -- and he loves cooking them for breakfast. My nephews love deviled eggs, and will eat as many as I'll fix.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter and I hit the 50-percent-off sale at the thrift store in Phoenix and bought new-to-us clothing, some of which we'll wear to the Financial Blogger Conference. It's in Orlando this year, and to say that I didn't have a thing to wear would have been pretty accurate.
While I was away, my partner harvested our apples and cut them up, mixed them with sugar and spices, and froze in Ziploc bags to make apple pie filling. I'd never heard of doing this in the freezer, but since I didn't have to do any cutting I'm happy just to make the pie crust. The apples were beautiful, a bright red, and I can't wait to bite into a slice of pie made with fruit from our own yard.
Your pie sounds wonderful, Donna. I would love not having to cut them up either. I hope you have a great time at the FinCon this year.
