Mother's Day ~ May 13, 2018
Mother's Day is coming up this Sunday, May 13th, so I thought it would be appropriate to discuss this holiday.
There are a myriad of ways to celebrate the day dedicated to Moms without breaking the bank.
My Mom is always happy with clothes, although most of what I've read says not to buy clothes. I guess it depends on your Mom as my Mom is even happy with second hand clothes as long as it's something she needs.
If you're short on cash this year there are stills ways to celebrate your Mom by thinking outside the gift box.
Items such as...
- Picnic lunch at her favorite spot
- Make breakfast, lunch, or dinner to give her the day off from cooking.
- Make her favorite dessert
- Wildflowers or Flowers from your own garden
- Do Mom's chores for her
- Make Mom a homemade card
- Make Mom a scrapbook
- A framed photo you know she will love
- Wash and detail her car
- Call her and have a long conversation
- Give her a manicure or pedicure yourself
- Mow her lawn (I would love this!)
- Watch a movie with her

Great list of ideas. I used to buy Mom flowers for her porch boxes, so she could enjoy them all summer.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great gift, Cheryl, and one I know that would be appreciated. :)
DeleteI can't stand these sorts of holidays. When my kids were little and asked what I want, I tell them "peace and quiet" or "for you guys to go a day without bickering." These were the same things my parents said to us when we were little. Now that they are older, and one of them drives, they love to go out shopping to present me with gifts, so I make sure I am very specific in what I would like, say, those fancy bamboo cutting boards, so they don't waste their money.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, Meg. Last year I tried to not think about it and my Mom laid a guilt trip on me. LOL The peace and quiet and no bickering are great gifts too. LOL
DeleteYes, we are all about not wasting money here, so being specific is important here too.
Happy Mother's Day to my adopted daughter, Belinda. :)
ReplyDeleteAwwww....you are so sweet, Anna. Thank you and a very Happy Mother's Day to you too. :)
DeleteWe are not big on gifts for Mother's Day around here. We usually either have Mom here to eat or take her out to eat at night. Here Mother's Day is the single biggest restaurant lunch of the year. We wait until dinner when the crowds are gone
ReplyDeleteThat is a great idea, Anne. I know the restaurants are very crowded for Mother's Day here after church times. Waiting until later is a great idea.
DeleteHappy Mother's Day Belinda! I bet Bailey has a nice surprise in store for you, she seems so clever!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mary Lou. She is pretty clever. I can't wait to see what she has in store.
