Second Frugal Friday of July 2024

Welcome to Frugal Friday!

My Frugal Week

On Tuesday we went to the theater to see Inside Out 2. We really enjoyed it, although not as much as the first one, but the message of "feel your feelings" really came through. Tuesday night is bargain night, so we were able to see the movie for only $5.50 and a free bag of popcorn.

I've been exercising st home more recently and have been riding my stationary bicycle pedals for one hour each day. I'm working to strengthen the muscles in my legs anticipating knee replacement surgery.

Stamps go up in price on Sunday, July 14th from 68 cents to 73 cents.

My Frugal Kitchen

We've been using up what we have here this week and cleaning out what meats we have in the freezer. we also picked up blackberries at Aldi this week where they were on sale for $1.99 each.

What’s for Dinner

Monday ~ Eggroll in a Bowl

Tuesday ~ Chicken and baked sweet potato.

Wednesday ~ Salmon Patties, Steamed Broccoli, Baked Sweet Potatoes.

Thursday ~ Grilled Chicken Taco Salads, Brussel Sprouts

What’s on the Menu for Next Week

I'm definitely planning on BBQ Pork, Salmon Patties, and Chicken next week. Be sure to come back next week to see what sides we serve with these main dishes.

How are things in your home this past week?

Thank you for dropping by my frugal blog, you are always welcome here.

  1. Granddaughter wants to go see inside out 2. It does seem like the second movie is never as good as the first. Have a wonderful weekend.

    1. I agree, Vickie. The first movie is usually the best one. :) I hope you have a great weekend too.

  2. That's great that you can see a movie for only $5.50 with a free bag of popcorn! Funny how we were complaining about the price of groceries last week and now the price of stamps are going up :( I have always loved to send photo Christmas cards, but each year I send to less and less people...between the price of the cards and postage it's almost impossible to do this frugally :( Stay cool and have a nice weekend!

    1. Thank you, Janel. Yes, I also send less Christmas cards each year. They will be $1.00 to mail before we know it, unfortunately. You stay cool too, it’s supposed to be really hot next week.

  3. When is your knee replacement surgery? I just had mine in mid-April - it went better than I expected - I'm already riding my bike!

    1. I see the ortho dr at the end of July and we're going to discuss this at that time. Sounds like you're doing very after your surgery, congratulations!

  4. Now that is a wonderful price to be able to see a movie. We do have less expensive matinees but they are mostly for children (cartoons). I wish our stamps were the price yours are.

    God bless.

    1. Thank you, Jackie. It's the best day to see a movie inexpensively. How much do stamps cost in Canada?

  6. Good to hear that the second Inside Out was pretty good. I thought the first one was cute.
Great job with the exercise bike. I think you are really wise to strengthen your muscles before surgery. I hope the knee replacement goes well.
    Have a great weekend.

  7. I haven’t gone to a theater for a long time. I think the last time was in 2010. 😊

    1. Wow, that was a long time ago, Nil. If it weren't for Bailey I wouldn't go to a movie theater either.

  8. I have not been to a movie since 2018. I want to see the Barbie movie and a few others. That is a good price. The can of salmon needs to bee put on the table so I will have it in sight!

    1. Yes, on the salmon, Linda. The Barbie movie was really good too.
