Third Frugal Friday of March 2024

Welcome to Frugal Friday!

My Frugal Week

Last Friday, as I mentioned, we cleaned in Dad's office and workshop. I threw out more canned food that I found, some of which was Progresso soup in the can that had dried up inside and was light as a feather. It already looks so much better than it did when we first began. Here is a photo of the trash pile for the clean out from this week. I should have taken pictures all along, but didn't think to do that.

The crutches and walkers will all be donated to People Helping People as they loan them out to be to used for free. The wooden ladders have all been replaced with metal ones.

On Saturday I woke up early and took our own household garbage, and added it to the pile. I then deep cleaned in the kitchen and sorted some canned goods in our own pantry upstairs.

I had two eye injections on Monday this week and they wear me out for some reason, so I came home and took a long nap afterwards.

Tuesday evening was the
wedding of my niece and her partner. Bailey was one of the bridesmaids and that is her pictured above. It was a beautiful ceremony and we are thrilled for the happy couple.

Freebies

Tuesday I went to the Samaritan Center for our last money saving cooking class. It was a lot of fun and we decorated chef hats and earned our graduation certificates and received a free bag of goodies along with another $10 gift certificate.

Thank you for dropping by my frugal blog, you are always welcome here.

We would love to hear all about your week in the comment section.

  1. I just can't imagine having eye injections. Oh goodness. Hugs.
Bailey looks so pretty. You have worked very hard on clearing that space. I bet it feels good to declutter so much.
    Take care.

    1. Thank you, Cheryl. It's nt as bad as you think. They numb it several times beforehand, so that helps a lot. It feels wonderful to have decluttered so much stuff. :)

  2. Oh wow, who knew soup could dehydrate in the can. Kind of makes you wonder if you could add water and rehydrate it just for grins but definitely not eat it!

    1. LOL! I hadn't thought of that. One of the cans was black though, which makes me think maybe it leaked out? I'm not sure.

  3. Sorry that you had to have two eye injections, but I hope there will be improvement next appointment so maybe you won't have to have as many injections.
Bailey is lovely! I love her hair color too. Best wishes to your niece and her partner.
What a great idea to donate the crutches and walker to folks who need them. You have really made a lot of progress on the cleaning out.
Hope you have a good weekend.

    1. Thank you, Jackie.

I understand why your friend naps on the way home. They are exhausting.

  7. (Little Penpen) if you haven’t dumped the wooden ladders already, you might try selling on marketplace. Decorators love them and people use them to display quilts. Bailey looks gorgeous. I hope your eyes feel better today.

  8. I received an eye injection for the first time last week. We are still praying I get bit more improvement in my vision. Still missing some central vision. My other eye is working overtime trying to make up d]for it. It is exhausting! And you really don’t want the sun to be shining brightly afterwards. They had dilated my eyes and I am hoping that doesn’t have to happen every time. As I was waiting for the injection I kept remembering you mentioning receiving them. The fact you survived the procedure gave me the nerves to go through with it. My eye still looks gnarly. I hope at some point I don’t look like some creature from another planet. Nancy from the PNW.

    1. Oh, Bless your heart, Nancy. They are no fun for sure and can be exhausting afterwards. The first few times I had to get them I was filled with dread and anxiety, but that did get better the longer I received the injections. My heart goes out to you, but I know you want to save your vision, like I do, they are necessary. The dilation does not happen every time for me, it's about every 3rd time, and yes sunglasses are needed afterwards especially on days when they dilate the eyes. I'll be keeping you in good thoughts and prayers.

    2. Thank you! I need all the prayer I can get. My eye still looks very blood shot. Maybe by the time I go back it will have cleared up. Yesterday I got my new temporary crown. Goodness getting older is not for sissies.
