February ~ End of the Month Report

All of our bills have been paid for February 2016. I did charge several things this month, but they have already been paid in full.

Grocery:  $242.32
Gas:  $65.77

Grocery spending was up due to me renewing our membership at Sam's Club. Gas spending was down due to lower gas prices here.

This was a month which saw a lot of expenses for my daughter who will be graduating in May. Seems like every time I turned around there was another fee to pay.

I paid for her senior graduation package including announcements, graduation fee for the high school, yearbook, tassel from the NHS, and graduation cap and gown.

Senior year comes with extra expenses, but I believe everything is paid for now unless something unexpected comes up.

There were extra clothing expenses for my daughter in February due to her Spring Break coming up in March. She is preparing for a trip with her surrogate grandmother. All expenses for that trip have already been paid for as well.

Looking ahead to March, I already have my budget prepared. Our school system used seven snow days in February, so my paycheck in March will be much smaller as a result and I have planned my budget accordingly.

  1. Congratulations to your daughter, Belinda! You've done a great job raising her. I hope she thoroughly enjoys her spring break trip. And good work to you, as well, on your budget for February. 7 snow days sounds like a lot. Is it more than typical for your area?

    1. It is about the usual, Lili. I can remember last February another sub and I were talking about not getting much work. It wasn't just snow either this month. It was bad weather from rain too. A lot of trees were blocking roads last Friday, so that the buses couldn't run, so they had to cancel school for that too. I'm ready for warmer weather. lol

Thank you for all your kinds words about my daughter. She is so thrilled about her spring break. I am a little nervous, but will survive. lol

  2. Congratulations Mom on making it through HS! haha! It always sounded like you raised a wonderful daughter. She must be so excited about her trip. Any plans post HS? I know many of the kids around here are still undecided or just deciding. Good luck to her in her future endeavors.

  3. Thank you so much, Mary. She is going onto community college since Tennessee Promise pays for two years of college after high school. I feel like a survivor!! lol One of the Moms said I would cry and cry this year, but so far nothing. I'm just thrilled for her in this stage of life. She is so very excited about her trip. And I'm excited for her too. Thanks again. :)

  4. Delightful news. Bailey may not have been born when we met online. Spring break and graduation so close together and special times. Then, ace community college for grants and scholarships. Terrific opportunities in her future. Enjoy your success, Belinda.

    1. Thank you, Anna. She is very excited. As a graduation present, her surrogate gmom gave her money to buy a car, so she is car shopping as well. It is an exciting time for her for sure. She was born in 1997, which is right around the time we met online. It's hard to believe so many years have passed since then. Good times for sure. :)

  5. 1997 is the year we met, I assure you. :) Kind and lovely surrogate mother for Bailey.

Through the years, I have had many surrogate mothers. One gave me my first Chattanooga Cook Book by Helen Exum. 2 years ago from Amazon, I bought a used signed book by Mrs. Exum. Her family owned one of the Chattanooga newspapers in which her column ran.

    1. Thank you, Anna. I remember she was just a baby when we met. Time sure does fly. Sounds like you have had your share of surrogate grandmothers/mothers too.

How neat that you have one of Helen Exum's signed books, a treasure for sure. :)
