I mentioned last week that I was reading more due to recuperating from surgery. Normally I feel guilty reading for pleasure because I think about all the other things I could be doing instead. But I know that isn’t a healthy way to look at reading.
Reading is such a good activity and slows down memory decline in older age. It also helps with personal growth, stress management, and building vocabulary. Also, when we read a book instead of watching tv or scrolling on social media, our sleep improves.

We do a lot of batch cooking. My goal is to not make a complete dinner from scratch ever on a weekday. We do pretty well with this, and typically have leftovers or occasionally do something very simple like heating up meatballs from the freezer & making pasta. I'm too tired after work to make a proper dinner, so this works for us. - Hawaii Planner
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are off to a great start with Miserly March! Yay for paying property taxes without having to use savings. I'm sure you will do great the rest of the month too. So glad you were able to have the surgery drains removed. I'm sure that is a relief, but don't overdo things. Glad you are enjoying reading and relaxing a little. I enjoyed the Netflix series, All the Light we cannot see, but I haven't read the book.
ReplyDeleteI love cooking once and being able to make other meals, and I like your ideas for chili. If there is any chili leftover here, I add it to nachos too. I bought some cheese on sale at Kroger this week too, love me some cheesy goodness. Food Lion has whole chickens on sale for .99/lb, so I think I will pick up a few. I can't quite make it stretch as far as a rubber chicken, but we can get 3 meals out of one. :D
Hope you have a great weekend.
