We had the best time at yard sales last weekend. Even if we don’t buy anything at one yard sale I’m getting in so many steps often hitting more than 10,000 steps by the end of the day, so it’s great exercise even when I don’t buy anything.
See this purse that retails for $139.00? Look what I picked up at a yard sale on Friday for $5.00. This is a Poppy & Peonies commuter backpack.
Can you believe that?! I only bought it because I liked it. I didn’t realize how valuable it was until I got home and Googled it. ๐
I also picked up an office chair ($5.00), Reebok aerobic step ($1.00), one dozen wide mouth canning jars ($5.00), and a lamp with pull chain ($10.00).
I bought the aerobic step to mimic a couple of exercises at home that they had me do in physical therapy. The price of a new one can be steep if bought new, but they are a dime a dozen on the second hand market and I knew if I waited I would find one inexpensively.
I pulled up to this yard sale and this step was on the curb away from the actual sale, which indicated to me it was on the way out. So, I asked the seller how much for the step and she asked me what I would offer. Thinking it was on its way out I offered $1.00 and she accepted. Score!
Here is a photo of the lamp with pull chain that I bought. I adore lamps with pull chains as they are easy to turn on in the middle of the night to light the room when I need to get up for any reason. I always look for pull chains on lamps whenever I see them while shopping. Most lamps don’t have a pull chain, so they are harder to find.
And look what I found when I got home…turns out this is a stained glass Tiffany lamp that sells for $166.66. Can you believe that? I had no idea it was an Atlanta Falcons lamp I just liked the pull chain. Now I know why it was $10.00. ๐
On Saturday we headed out again. This time we went back to a yard sale I went to on Friday. I had seen a similar bag to the one pictured above and wanted to see if it was still there and it was, so I gave them $5.00 for it. Turns out this one was a diaper bag from Petunia Pickle Bottom worth $199.00.
I thought it was another backpack, but was a diaper bag instead, so I’m letting Bailey sell it in her business.
The first yard sale we went to on Saturday had all their clothes for $1.00 each, so we picked up three Carhartt jackets for that price, which was a steal! Carhartt is very popular here and Bailey will be selling these in her shops.
For myself I found a handheld cordless drill for $5.00, and a new pair of Cato pants in animal print for $1.00. Now I probably won’t wear these out of the house, but will wear them around the house.
How about you? Have you been to any yard sales recently? We would love to read about any treasures you've found lately.
Thank you for dropping by my frugal blog, you are always welcome here.
Oh yes! That is some of the fun of going to yard sales. You can buy stuff you like for a season and when you get tired of it you can sell it at your yard sale. LOL
Great finds! I am so out of date that I don't recognize anything valuable. My score was a replacement Zojorushi bread machine. Our is 12 years old and has some quirks now so I have been watching Facebook Marketplace. I found a Virtuoso that had only been used twice for $100. They are up to $419 so what a deal. We are happy to have the high end model because it has a heating element in the lid to brown the top. We bake all our bread so it pays for itself in no time
So glad you had fun!! You found some great deals, WOW! I do love that backpack, and what a great deal on the diaper bag. I love the lamp too even though I'm not a sports fan, it is pretty. Neat about the step and chair and jackets, and I like the animal print pants too. How fun. We went to a local church yard sale since my girl gets so excited to get a bag of clothes for $2, and she found some nice name brands. My husband bought a new space heater for $5 , a new keyboard and mouse for $5 and some books for .25 cents. You never know what you will find, but we seem to find more treasures at church sales. Some yard sale folks want almost as much for their stuff as I could buy it new.
Oh yes! Some folks price their clothes way too high for yard sales. We’ve seen some clothes selling for a lot of money. All I can figure is they don’t shop at yard sales enough to know they won’t sell at those prices. Sounds like you got some terrific deals! Books for 25 cents is so great! They usually sell for $1 here, but I have seen some for 50 cents. What a great deal on the space heater! They are just so much fun!
What fun! And a great score on the commuter bag! I love it! I wish I could discipline myself to get up for yard sales. I’m always envious when I see all the good finds!
I love a good yard sale, but I cannot get out and walk around. I bought two tall, skinny lamps, $5 for two of them. I am going to attempt rewiring them. It will be my first time. One does work, but I will rewire both of them.
You did very well. I too am going to visit as many yard/garage sales as I can this summer. Plus, I'd like to have a yard sale of my own! I used to bring my ex-stuff to Goodwill but I'd like to try selling some of it this season. Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome, Cindy. Thank you for reading and commenting. I used to love having my own yard sales because all the neighbors would come and visit while it was happening. We always had such a good time.
Wow! And I thought that was a Falcon's logo when I saw the lamp. If we were at the same sale, I'd let you have it but would be wrestling with you over that backpack. What a great weekend!
I do not go to yard sales because I have enough stuff for me and another household already. What I really need to do is have one and get rid of stuff!

DeleteYou sure got some great deals. That is impressive. I have only been to like one so far this year and just happened to see it!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cheryl. We had so much fun. Sometimes the ones you just stumble across have the best stuff since others may not know about them yet.

ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! What a fantastic deal! Score! ๐
DeleteI haven't been to a yard sale in awhile. Love your backpack, what a great buy, and the same for the lamp. You are very lucky.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thank you, Jackie. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. ๐
