Second Frugal Friday February 2024

Welcome to Frugal Friday!

My Frugal Week

This week I spent several minutes each day unsubscribing from emails that want to sell me something. Some of them send multiple emails per day and I don't want to receive that many emails from any company.

We bought two dryer brushes to clean out our lint trap. I already cleaned out the dryer upstairs and used the vacuum to help clean up the lint. We will also have to take it downstairs and clean out the line leading to the outside.

We cleaned in Dad's office again last Friday and will clean in there again today. We put out another dozen or so bags for the garbage man on Saturday. I'm going to give him a really big bonus for all this extra trash.

If you're interested, Knife magazine wrote an article abut my Dad's passing and you can read it here

We went to the class at the Samaritan Center on Tuesday with the topic being Food Safety. And we both received another $10 voucher to the thrift store. One of the things I picked up were smaller baskets with handles to corral items around the house. They were only 40 cents each and perfect for some things.

We've not done any grocery shopping this week, so no money spent there. We are simply eating what we have here at home.

Thank you for dropping by my frugal blog, you are always welcome here.

We would love to hear all about your week in the comment section.

  2. Belinda, that was a great article about your dad (and obituary). A good example of finding a new path and a great career after something so terrible happening. He sounded like a wonderful person. Thank you for sharing that! Cheryl H

    1. Thank you, Cheryl. I thought it was a nice article too. My Dad was someone who could make something out of anything when he put his mind to it. My bedroom furniture was made by him back in the 1980s. I'll have to take a picture of it soon.

    1. Thank you, Kathy. Yes, my Dad made a special knife for Bailey, which she treasures. He made one for all of us, and we will always treasure them. It's been raining here today too. I hope you also have a good weekend.

  10. What a wonderful tribute to your father. He sounds like an amazing person. There is an actual town in South West Virginia called Cripple Creek. My birthday was on Feb. 4th so we have done a lot of eating out this week which has been nice. Happy Valentines Day to you and Bailey!

    1. Thank you, Bobbi. There is also a Cripple Creek, Colorado. In fact, I think we have a postcard from there. people used to give my Dad stuff about Cripple Creek and Buffalos regularly.

Oh, happy birthday to you. Eating out is the best way to spend a birthday. We love to do that on our birthdays.

  11. The article in Knife and the obituary gives a clear picture f him as a person. He sounds wonderful and a creative person, a survivor of a disfiguring accident. Daddy could make anything, too. I have those things and treasure them, too.

  14. That was a great tribute to your dad, Belinda. He sounds very talented, and I know you were very proud of him and will miss him terribly. The cooking class you are taking sounds right up my alley with the thrift shop voucher being a great bonus. Meals sound delish as usual. Hope for a good week for you and Bailey.
