This has been a rough week here to say the least. On Saturday night my Mom had a bad fall and broke her arm. We ended up calling an ambulance for her and they decided to admit her into the hospital. On Wednesday they transferred her to a rehab facility.
I’m sorry I’ve not been commenting on your blogs very much, but this was the reason why and I wanted to let you know. My heart has been other places this week, so this blog post will be a short one.
We lost power last night for about eight hours due to the high winds. I was so glad when the lights finally came back on as I’m used to sleeping with a little bit of light.
Saving Money In My Frugal Kitchen
Last week I used the last of some hamburger buns from the thrift bread outlet to make garlic bread, so no waste on those here.
Meals This Week
Friday: Better Cheddars, Roasted Carrots & Potatoes, Green Beans with Onions
Saturday: Pizza
Sunday: There were so many leftovers In the fridge that I decided to heat those up for dinner and had a motley crew of them. They included pizza, lasagna, green beans with onions, potatoes and carrots, radishes, and black olives.
Not everyone ate everything, but rather ate what they wanted. All that was left after dinner were some of the potatoes and carrots, so it was a good way to use up the leftovers without waste.
Monday: Chicken Stir Fry, Rice and Vegetables
Tuesday: Pizza for Movie Night
Wednesday: Sausage Pie, Cole Slaw, Kale Greens with Fig Balsamic Vinegar
Thursday: Chicken Tenders, Cole Slaw, Salads
Sorry this weeks post is a short one. I hope you’ve had a good week.
I am so sorry. Sounds like a rough week. I hope that your Mom will have less pain and that her arm heals well. Broken bones seem to take longer to heal as we get older. So glad that your power came back on, and I hope you were able to get some rest. Take care of yourself.
Oh it's rough when things happen and sometimes they happen all at once. Your Mom will get better in Rehab and be as good as new. They work wonders. We are expecting those high winds this afternoon..I pray and hope we don't have a power outage.
I did wonder where you were and if everything was OK. I don't often comment but I do read your posts each week. So sorry to read about your mom's accident - I wish her a speedy recovery. I hope that this week is much less stressful for you - take care.
Yes, we have a couple of flashlights and some candles. I want to get a battery operated lamp though and keep that by my bed. I think it would put me more at ease being in the dark. Thank you.
I'm sorry to hear about your mom. Falls do so much harm after a certain age. Some weeks thrift and economy and blogs is the last priority. I hope she has a positive recovery.
So sorry to hear about your mom Belinda. I hope she makes a quick recovery. I had a bit of a rough week here too and was also unable to make my blog visits until today. Sounds like you did well in the thrift department anyway. I hope it's a good weekend and a better week ahead!
I'm sorry for your mom's fall, and wishing her a speedy recovery with a good outcome. I don't comment often, but I am a regular reader and really enjoy your blog. Celie
Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear about your mom! I hope she heals up quickly. Falls are so bad for our older loved ones. Gravity just isn't our friend sometimes! Wishing you a peaceful week.
