The One Year Anniversary of the Pandemic ~ March 13, 2020
Last year on this day, Friday March 13, 2020, our lives changed in ways we could not have imagined. We had no idea of the impact it would have on our lives.
President Joe Biden had this to say about the pandemic while the WHO marked the one year anniversary as well. Both of them mark the anniversary as March 11, 2020, but for me it will always be March 13, 2020.
I remember the principal standing in the gym at school and telling the students and staff that she believed we would be back in session in two weeks. Oh, how little did we know at the time how our lives were about to change.
I have always enjoyed blogging and over the years it became a record for me of all my frugal wins and losses, a place to keep recipes and prices for things from different times in our lives.
And then I made many friends and felt such comradery that the blog became to mean a whole lot more to me. It is a record of what the years have been like for us.
So with that in mind, I want to mark this day as a reminder of the day that changed our lives for a long time to come. I hope and pray that you all are well and that someday soon this will all be behind us.
It's been such an unbelievable year in many, many ways. I do feel we're turning the corner & am optimistic for the future, but so much has changed. I'm happy we got through the last year, feel blessed we've both kept our jobs, and that the kids go through online learning. Only 3 & 5 weeks to go remote, between the two. I'm counting down the days.
so unbelievable...it gives me shivers to just read your blog post. This just started tumbling downward really fast. Those variants give me cause for concern but hopefully they will not be bad. Case rates though are steading going up around here.
It has certainly been a crazy year! I can't remember the exact day it was for me, but I think it was earlier in March. I definitely could have never expected all that was to come. I sure hope this will all be behind us soon too.
What a year! So many lives lost and so many lives changed. I have to believe that better days are ahead though. Thanks for your blog. It has been an encouragement to me.
I knew almost nothing about the existence of blogs before the pandemic. Then I stumbled across one, then another...I am grateful to all the bloggers I read now for the company as we move thru this. Thank you. Maybe some day I'll get started on my own blog, tho I lead a very uninspired life and no ideas what I'd write about! Celie
It was my birthday, March 12th, and we had stopped at Wegmans Market for a small birthday cake for me. As I sat outside in the parking lot, I was amazed at the number of cars and people on a Thursday. Wegmans is always crazy busy, but this was crazier than Christmas time. My poor hubby was in the store for almost an hour waiting in line with my special cake. He said every one of the 30 lines had at least 10 shoppers and every cart was full. The world started to turn upside down. By the following Monday, New York was totally shut down. So many people have died, so many tears have been shed, so much sadness.
But I do believe there's light at the end of the tunnel.
Until than, I will continue to mask, social distance and wait for my Fauci ouchie.
It has been quite the experience. We all have changed. We have become more compassionate, and more resilient. But boy have many suffered, and I am so sad about that.
The blog has really been a sanity saver for me as well. I feel like I can share my frustration in ways that I don't want to in real life, but also, get hope that I sometimes miss in real life.

Yes, we will continue to mask up, social distance, and do what it takes to protect others as well.
DeleteHappy Birthday Cheryl! I hope you had a great day!
This year did change us all. I hope in mostly good and wonderful ways.
ReplyDeleteMy province is slowly but surely rolling out the vaccine. I should be getting my first shot in a few weeks. Keeping my fingers crossed for that.
God bless.
That is wonderful news, Jackie. I will be keeping my fingers crossed too.

ReplyDeleteAgreed Kim, that makes me said too.

ReplyDeleteYes, venting online is better than expressing some feelings in real life.
DeleteLove reading the blog. Praying for you and your health. I worry about you.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Joanne.
DeleteI knew we were in for a long haul. But, that did not prepare me for this last year.
