Frugal Friday on Saturday

Good morning to you this beautiful Saturday. I'm doing well today, but my daughter has come down with strep throat, unfortunately.

She was asleep when I came home from work on Thursday, which should have been my first clue that she was sick.

She is still sleeping this morning, so we're not going to any yard sales today.

This was a busy week work wise and I ended up working everyday, so I didn't get my Frugal Friday post up yesterday.

This week I'm scheduled for four days, but we will see what happens there. I could end up working all week again.

Frugal things that went on here this week include:

Made a $10 sale on eBay this week.

Found this reusable bag in the clean garbage can in one of the classrooms I subbed in this week, so I rescued it.

I made ham broth in my crockpot with the hambone from Easter dinner. I have five of these in my freezer. I will be using some of this to make potato soup, which will give the soup  a lot of flavor.

We picked up these two egg containers for 50¢ each at a yard sale on Friday. These sell for $9.99 on Amazon. (Affiliate Link)

They are a nice hard plastic that washes easily. They stack on top of each other and have lids as well, so I can set things on top of them in my fridge if needed.

I love refrigerator containers and look at them whenever I go into Lowe's.

This one will be short and sweet this week. I hope you all have a terrific weekend!

    1. Thank you. Strep is awful, she's still in bed, which is so unlike her.

  5. I went for six months with either strep or tonsillitis before they took my tonsils out. Hopefully this is a one off thing for your daughter?

    1. This is the second time she's had it in six months, and they asked her if she had her tonsils out. So, they have been talking about it.

  6. I hope your daughter feels better soon,Belinda.

Those egg containers are so useful, aren't they? I have 3 that I bought from thrift stores. I buy eggs from BJs so it's nice to have several containers to keep them.

    1. Thank you, Nil. Oh, I do love the egg containers, they are so nice. I don't know if you've seen the Hello Nutritarian fridge, but she keeps containers like this in hers. Not eggs for her, but fruits and veggies.

  7. Poor baby girl. I hope she feels better soon. Strep is the worst and really knocks you down, especially this time of year. I am not a medical expert and I don't like giving out medical advice. My personal experience is that strep seems worse when you do have your tonsils. I get strep too. Never had my tonsils out because I am a trained singer. All my friends who did have their tonsils taken out seem to not get strep.

    1. Thank you, Safyne. She is feeling better today and is out of bed, so that is a good sign. She has been very weak from this strep. That's great about your friends, she needs to consider it as well I am beginning to think.

  8. Does Bailey have asthma or take allergy medications?

My tonsils and adenoids should have been removed years before they were. I was 18 at removal. On forums, posters are not talking about tonsil illness. I do not recall ever reading about it on a forum. Do you?

Hope your days are filled with subbing till end of school year. Do you mean that you have started another side job in addition to pet sitting? You are clever finding side jobs.

Air-conditioning operating fulltime in West Tennessee, creating a breathing haven. Up goes the electric bill. :(

    Enjoy today.

    1. Bailey has asthma and takes allergy medication. She is allergic to multiple things. I have not recalled reading about tonsil illness either.

My calendar is almost full for the next three weeks. I only have 2 days open right now. So, I'll be busy as a bee. LOL

We have our a/c going and the dehumidifier running as well. It helps keep some of the moisture out of the air. The a/c does what it can and the dehumidifier just helps.

I hope you have a good Sunday too, Anna. :)

  9. I've had a few savings this week. My ear piercings seemed to have been grown closed but I talked to my beautician friend and she said to try something that worked so I didn't have to get them re-pierced! I've sold some things on Mercari and eBay and I won a tri-crock pot and sold it since I found a new InstaPot for $30 at a yard sale (which was more than half off the price at Sam's). Went to a Farm Share and got more than $100 in food that I can use all of!

    1. You are so sweet, Kim. THank you for checking in on me. I'm fine, just worn out from being so busy and school ending, which means I've been working everyday. I came here this morning to try and get a post up, so hopefully I'll get that done. Thank you. :)
