Spring Break

This past week was Spring Break here and we had a really nice week off from our regular school/work hours.

The grocery store sale ads were not the best this week, so I did not do any major grocery shopping. I did manage to find a few good coupon deals though.

My go to deodorant is Sure and there were $1.00 off coupons in last Sunday's paper. I used them at Walmart since there were no good sales here and got them for 96¢ each, so I saved $4.00.

Last Sunday there was a coupon for Nivea lotion, $5.00 off two bottles. I used mine first at Walmart and then at Target. The ones on the left were 28¢ each after coupon while the ones on the right were combined with a Target coupon and were completely free. These will be great for my sub bag. See why I have not been shopping at Walmart lately? lol

We went to the Dollar Tree to pick up a couple of free items. I picked up two bars of Zest soap for free after a coupon I printed on Coupons.com and my daughter was able to pick up two more free makeup items.

I printed coupons for Planter's peanuts from Coupons.com and combined them with a Target coupon and bought three cans of peanuts for $1.00 each. As with several of my pictures this week, things have been eaten since I bought them, which is my fault since I waited to take pictures this week. lol ;)

For some reason one day when we shopped at Bi-Lo, between my daughter and me, we received coupons for four free items. So, I picked up free eggs, free lunch meat, free buns (almost gone already), and a free bag of salad. How neat was that? I plan on using the lunch meat for sandwiches for lunch this week.

Have you ever tried the Target brand of Chickadees crackers? They are just like Goldfish crackers and sometimes, if you're lucky, you can find them on sale for $1.00 a box like I did this week. I picked up a few boxes to divvy up into baggies and use in lunches this week.

I used one of the gas reward coupons I received from Kmart last week, which saved me 30¢ per gallon of gas, so $3.00 in savings.

Did you happen to catch Lili's tip over at Creative Savv about her alternative use for paper towels with clam shells? If not you can read about it here:

So I found a use for paper towels

She uses a paper towel in the bottom of her clam shells to prolong the life of her family's produce and she saves the paper towel and uses it several times over the course of the season.

Well, the other day I bought a package of cherubs tomatoes at Sam's Club and there just happened to be one of these absorbent napkins in the bottom of it. It's plastic on one side and absorbent on the other. I took it out and put it in the cabinet to use it several times before I toss it.

On Friday night we went to the theater and watched the movie Divergent. I checked over the prices and decided on the bargain time slot of 5:20, with tickets costing $5.25. We both enjoyed the film and had a little bit of fun in the process. A lot of students from school came to see the film as well, so we were able to see several friends.

On Saturday we stopped in at Lowe's to pick up a free container of paint after we found a coupon in our Better Homes and Gardens magazine.

Today, in anticipation of returning to school/work tomorrow, I am doing laundry. I've cleaned the bathroom and kitchen, cleaned out my car from this week's activities and already made lunches and laid out clothes and shoes for tomorrow. Hopefully we will have a good week here and I hope you do as well.
