Monday Night Dinner

I had an appointment in town today and afterwards stopped in at Cooke's to see what they had on special. You can't see the coupon anymore, but there was one attached for $2.00 off this package of ground beef. I scanned that portion of my receipt, so you could see the $2.00 off coupon.

With the coupon, this was approximately 2 pounds of hamburger for $1.85 per pound. That is better than the current price of $4.00 per pound.

Monday night's dinner was hamburger steaks with gravy, corn, cole slaw, and mashed potatoes with gravy.

Here is a photo:

What are you having for dinner tonight?

  1. Great buy Belinda. For dinner we are having chili. Hubby makes an extra meal or two in Sundays so we only have to cook maybe 2 more times this week.

    1. Nice, Fiesta! I love making enough for dinner to last several times during the week. :)

  2. We had homemade marinara sauce with boneless pork added. I managed to get a small pork roast on a markdown for $2.31 to add to the sauce. We had angel hair pasta.

I made the marinara on Saturday and we have three containers in the freezer now having using one for dinner last night.

Great deal on the hamburger. The prices on it have gotten crazy around here too.

    1. That sounds so good, Mary Lou, and what a great rice on the pork roast. I love finding them for that price. Every now and then I'll run across a great deal like that. Thank you too, I know prices on ground beef are really high right now.

  3. We had leftover turkey in gravy on biscuits, with cole slaw and sweet potato souffle. Tonight it's homemade pizza.

I can't believe the price of ground beef these days. Good deal you found. It's alwasy worth a quick look for the mark downs, just in case there's something I'd like. Even if it's not in my menu plan for the week, I can toss it in the freezer to use another week.

    1. Exactly, Lili. Easy enough to put in the freezer if you can find it at a good price. Thank you. Your dinner sounds good too! :)

  4. I wish I had your shopping sale skills! I'm still trying to decide what to make for dinner using what I already have in my fridge and pantry. I might try to make chicken piccata!

PS, I love that you are keeping warm under blankets and watching the birds outside! I've been doing some light gardening and planting! Radishes, broccoli, bok choy, beets, and carrots are on their way!

    1. Good idea to use up what you have in your fridge and pantry, Nico. I've been working on that this month too, lol. Your gardening sounds so wonderful. I love our garden. :)

  5. Looks good, Belinda, I call that Salisbury Steak, something I haven't made in a while. Ground beef has gotten so expensive.

  6. Forgot to add: homemade meatballs in marinara over rigatoni, topped with freshly grated Parmesan; tossed salad of mixed organic baby greens and grape tomatoes, tea.

  7. Yum, your dinner sounds good, Carol. :)
Salisbury Steak is another good term for this dish. I was lucky enough to find the ground beef on sale otherwise we would have this more often.
