Saturday Morning Ramblings

Pictured below are some of the samples & free with coupon items we have been receiving lately. Most of these I've read about from the Hunt4Freebies and the FreebieShark.com Facebook pages. If you are not signed up for a Facebook account you are missing out on some great free items and coupons out there.

Pictured below is a free sample of a Scotch Brite disinfecting wipe along with a coupon for $1.00 off the product. I blogged about this freebie here.

Here is a free sample of Twinings tea that I blogged about here. This was a really nice freebie.

Here is a coupon for a free 4 ounce jar of Fleischmann's Bread machine yeast. Another nice freebie!

This is a container of Reach dental floss. I printed off a coupon for $1.00 off the Coupons.com website and took this to the Dollar Store, so all I had to pay was the tax money.

On another note, I recently won a set of Cuppows from Filmore Container.  Cuppows will turn your regular or wide mouth mason jar into a travel cup. I won a set of both types. Filmore Container has a lot of giveaways on their Facebook page so be sure to like them.

On to other things...

The book I am currently reading is called, The Penny Pincher's Book Revisited...Living Better for Less, written by John & Irma Mustoe.  The authors hail from England, and I like this book because it has frugal tips that you don't usually read about on American blogs.

Here is one tip I particularly liked:
Rinse your hands in cold water. Think about it, if you rinse your hands using the hot water tap, you usually turn it off before you get hot water (I know I do). You have actually wasted that hot water that was drawn from the hot water heater, which went into the cold pipe and now the hot water heater has to work to heat up the new cold water which went into the hot water heater.

Speaking of England, here is a message board from there that I really enjoy reading:

Old Style Money Saving

On another note, we could be looking at higher milk prices next year as milk prices may double in the new year.

Ok, I think I have rambled on enough this Saturday morning...

Christmas is quickly approaching this year and will be here in just a few days. We decided on having a simple Christmas this year, which I will blog about at a later time. I hope you all are enjoying your holiday season as much as we are this year. :)

  1. Hi Belinda,
Just wanted to say I received my Twinings tea samples a few weeks ago. I requested the Almond Chai, Vanilla Chai and Christmas Tea. I'm saving the CHristmas Tea, for obviously, Christmas. The Chais were pretty good. Thanks for the heads-up on that offer.

Milk prices are already up in our area. Ugh! I'll price out non-instant powdered milk at the wholesaler in a few weeks, to see if that would be a better deal. Just an FYI, non-instant powdered milk prices generally lag behind fluid milk prices, when there are major upsurges in dairy prices. I've gone through the local Darigold, here and our retstaurant supply for 55 pound sacks. Instant powdered milk is never a good deal in our area.

Belinda, have a very Merry Christmas!

    1. Thank you, Lili. I hope you have a Merry Christmas too!
I've noticed that the cost of the instant powdered milk is no longer the good deal that it used to be. Milk prices are up here too. My sister was shocked at our milk prices when she visited last month. When I went to pick some up yesterday, it was almost $5 a gallon, so I left it on the shelf. I think I can find it cheaper somewhere else. Glad to hear you received your free tea samples, that was a nice freebie. :)

  2. I received my tea samples too, thanks Belinda.

Merry Christmas to you and your family. I hope Bailey enjoys the day. I know she's getting older, but Christmas is for kids.
