Wednesday's Dinner

I've read about cooking meatloaf in the Crockpot on Carol's blog for a long time now, but it never clicked with me until today when I was thinking about making meatloaf and not wanting to heat up the house. This is what they had for dinner yesterday and so I decided to make mine in the Crockpot too. My review? This is my new favorite way to cook meatloaf! The house didn't heat up from using the oven, less electricity used with the Crockpot, the meatloaf still had that crusty bottom that we love. It was a win win situation and I will definitely be cooking it this way in the future. Sides were mashed potatoes, corn, and sliced tomatoes from the garden.

What's for dinner at your house today?

  1. Glad this worked out for you, Belinda. I love the ease of this technique; I can mix together a meatloaf after dinner and refrigerate it in a meatloaf pan or my Pyrex loaf pan and then just take it out the next morning and plunk it into my oval CP. It cooks all day-whether I am at work or just busy around the house. It saves electricity, for which we pay dearly in CT, and the house doesn't heat up. Perfect!

  2. Yes on all counts, Carol. Such a wonderful idea. Will definitely be doing this again and again. :)
