Thanksgiving is done...

Our Thanksgiving meal is all finished up now. We had family in from Illinois to share our meal with us. We served Ham instead of turkey, homemade dressing, mashed potatoes, soup beans, broccoli, and crescent rolls. Desserts were store bought pecan pie, cherry, and pumpkin pies.  I usually make homemade cranberry salad, but Mom can't eat it this year due to a certain medicine she is taking, and I didn't want to go to the effort for just myself, so I didn't make it this year.  I had worked every school day for the last twenty-four or so days leading up to our Thanksgiving break and I tried to keep our dinner as simple as possible and not stress out about it, and I think I did a good job of that.

After dinner, all the dishes were washed, and all the food was put away. I stripped the ham bone of all the meat, saved the very rich pan drippings in several canning jars, and saved the ham bones as well. All of that will be utilized at a later day and not wasted. Family has been here since Monday and we ate every meal at home and cleaned up afterwards. Haven't spent any money this week on restaurant food or even gas as we've spent the whole week at home. It has been a wonderful time. :)
