Deep South Dish has a new article up today on 25 terrific recipes to make with ground beef, and some of them look really good, so I wanted to share.

  1. Belinsa, thanks for posting/sharing. While ground beef is certainly no longer poor man's steak up here, as it sells for $5.49/lb, we are limited to sales under $3/lb and marked downs. Ground poultry is much more affordable for me, and I know that these recipes would adapt to that substitution well.

  2. You're welcome, Carol.

Walmart is selling one pound of ground beef/chuck here for $2.98, but every now and then I can find it on sale for $2.50. Before this recession hit, I could find it every 6 months for around $1.38, but I think those days are long gone.

I've not tried the ground chicken before, but it certainly would be healthier.

  3. Our mini WM are a joke compared to the one's down South (Mom is still in SC). No real grocery items other than dry goods, milk, eggs, case cold foods like cheese, sr cream, fzn dinners. Ground poultry is often on sale here @ $1.50/lb. No question which we eat more of!

  4. Oh wow, $1.50 for ground meat is a great price right now. I would definitely eat more of that too.

Your Walmart sounds like our Target...not very many good deals to find. I did visit a Target when we were in Illinois last week and they offer so much more than what ours does here.
