WFD: Soup Beans

In my efforts to use the food in my kitchen and not let it go to waste, dinner tonight was the last of the soup beans (Great Northern beans) I made earlier in the week. They were served with cornbread, sliced tomatoes, sliced pears and peaches. Simple, delicious, and very filling.

  2. Great Northern Beans, so called because if you let them cook long enough they get soupy. I'll have to add that to my post, so other people know what I'm talking about. :)

  3. Got it. I usually do pintos in the crockpot with a meaty ham bone, if available, with onion, celery, a bay leaf, black pepper, chopped collards if I have them. Served "soupy" in a bowl with some homemade buttermilk cornbread, tea-a great meal!

  4. Yes! Beans make such a great meal when they are soupy like that and serving them with collards is delicious. :)
