Each Friday here at Frugal Workshop, I love sharing the frugal wins, quiet savings, and simple strategies that helped us stretch our budget over the past seven days. It’s a gentle look back at the small things that make a big difference.
My Frugal Week
Last Friday was the People Helping People bag sale, so Bailey and I went. Afterwards we took our cat, Ginger, for his rabies and feline distemper shots at a low cost clinic for $15. He is a long hair cat and we are going to take him to the groomer, so he has to be up to date on his shots.
Two people from the American Red Cross came on Monday and installed four smoke detectors in our home, one in both bedrooms, one in the hallway, and one downstairs, all for free. They will last for ten years at which time they will be replaced.
On Tuesday I had an appointment with the orthopedic doctor for my hip. There is no arthritis in the hip, so she thinks the pain is coming from my back and scheduled me to see the back orthopedic doctor.
Since I was in Chattanooga, I took the opportunity to do a little thrifting. I bought a pull chain lamp with usb cords for $5.00.
It’s been a quiet week here with no grocery shopping, although I do have a tutoring session later today. How was your week?
Thank you for dropping by my frugal blog, you are always welcome here.
We would love to hear all about your week in the comment section.
I'm also trying to find the right doctor for back/hip pain. I found out that Stanford will accept my insurance, & they are amazing, but hard to even make an appointment with, so I have that on my to do list for the week. Hope you get some answers as well! - Hawaii Planner
Dear Belinda, my heart goes out to you! I have psoriatic arthritis and I can relate. I saw my rheumatologist yesterday and thank goodness it is good news. I have had several attacks of gout in the past since my 30's but since I have had this rheumatologist thankfully I have had no pain or gout. I have been taking Allopurinol for years and it really helps to prevent gout. It is such a relief, Belinda, because gout is extremely painful! So thankfully my only health issues at this time are the swallowing and coughing, but doctors are trying to find out the cause, so I am very grateful to have good doctors and to be able to find out the issues, because eating is no joy when you have difficulty swallowing. Bless your heart, dear Belinda, I will keep you in my prayers. You are such a lovely person and your posts are such a joy and so helpful to many people, including myself, I really hope that you are able to find a treatment that will help you.
Thank you so much, Linda. You are always so sweet. I hope the drs can find out the cause behind your swallowing and coughing issues soon. I’m so glad you no longer have pain from the gout. That is a blessing to be pain free.
It has been a quiet week here as the weather has not been nice at all. In fact next week is supposed to be even worse, much colder, and more snow. I don't think we will be getting up to Regina to visit Kris until much later.
Glad you were able to get smoke detectors. Definitely gives some peace of mind. I'm sorry you are having hip and back pain. Hope the new Dr will be able to help so that you will feel better. Have a good weekend. It is cold here, so I am hoping to stay warm and cozy.
Not a great week, but bareable if Iimited contact with the news. I'm looking forward to the weekend.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great and better weekend, Sam.
