  1. Fun list! Some I haven't tried before. Thanks!
I ate a peanut butter and jelly or peanut butter and banana for lunch for years.
    Cheap and easy. :)
Some sandwiches that I make these days include: teriyaki sandwiches, pepperoni rolls, chicken crescent rolls (sort of hot pocket things).

    1. Thank you, Kathy. Your sandwiches all sound good. I made this list to keep a running list on my blog. I hope to add to it from time to time.

  2. We love a good dandwich. My daughter has a panini press and it makes simple sandwich fillings into something so much more. My favorite is using leftover grilled veg with cheese on a hearty bread in the press.

    1. That sounds so good, Sam. Anytime you heal up a sandwich or grill it, it takes it to the next level. I love a good grilled cheese sandwich. Delicious!

  3. That's one thing I look forward to in the warmer weather, I usually have some kind sandwich on the menu plan at least once or twice a week. We don't eat lunch, just soup or smoothie depending on the weather so sandwiches are rare for us during winter.

    1. I can see that, Martha. They are more of a warm weather type of food. I originally did this post for back to school, but then it had several hot sandwiches on it that wouldn't work for taking to school.

  7. I grew up eating pineapple sandwiches. It never dawned on me that Mom was probably scrimping on the budget and a slice of pineapple between two slices of bread was a cheap meal. As a kid I loved them!

    2. Oh, I agree. Pineapple sandwiches are wonderful. I even have one several times each year. Of course, I used Miracle Whip on them.

    3. How interesting, Anne. Your Mom was probably trying to skimp and save. So many good ideas come from the old ways.

  8. Great list, and very helpful for those who pack lunches. The same things get very boring. Also, one thing I used to do when kids took lunches, is remind myself that their lunches didn't always need to be a sandwich. Sometimes, they'd have leftover meatballs, cheese and crackers, or tuna salad with celery stalks. In fact, I had one kid who, for whatever reason, absolutely hated having sandwiches in his lunch.

    1. Thank you, Meg. Yes, I was trying to make a list of ideas so I and others could glean from when needed.

Yes, I don't think lunch always needs to have a sandwich either. Cheese and crackers, etc. make for a perfectly fine lunch.

  9. Hmmm, there are a few that I am going to have to try on your lists. Thanks for sharing those ideas with us.

    God bless.
